Umenoya — Restaurant in Biñan

Saturday lunch: The staff are courteous The place smells like a a Japanese pub as if there was a bachelor party the night before. Spunky and smells like wasted cigarette. The aircon cool was not sufficient maybe perhaps due that there were no Japanese customers and only locals.

Tonkatsu was dry. Tempura was okay but not as expected (cooked more like Furai) California Maki and chicken karaage was okay. The food that good out was Yasar itame. I’ll forgive the type of rice as I expect Japanese grains than local ones.

Overall, 2/5.

The owners should visit Ipponyari at Sta Rosa to learn a thing or 2, and Umenoya surprisingly is...

Horrible service. It took my simple order of shrimp tempura over rice 1 hour before it was ready for take-out. I was even told by the woman who was manning the cashier that because the way we were blocking the server, they werent able to serve the food and it was our fault why the food was slow. Isnt it the kitchen’s fault why the food was slow? Why accept a big group if you were not able to serve us? And that lady who talked to me that way? Worst service. Even if your food may be good, I will never step in this restaurant again or recommend...

Umenoya in East Side near Brentville in Biñan, Laguna has a very serene surrounding. From the outside, it is unassuming, not intimidating and humble. They are definitely about the cooking and delivering a pleasant customer experience. Staff were approachable, service was quick, servings were generous, fairly-priced, the only noise would be friendly chatters from patrons. :) What you see is what you get. Far better than photos on...
