Uncle Jov's — Restaurant in Calapan

So disappointed. I went there for the steak and could not have had a worse experience. We went there as a family for dinner and ordered roast beef as well as steak. The roast beef was ok, the mashed potatoes were cold and sweet. The worst was the steak. I wanted a porterhouse, they didn’t have any. So I got a premium cut t-bone. I asked for it medium rare. I was very clear and I asked my wife to make sure it was understood. It was. When it arrived, the steak was thin, maybe 1/2 an inch. Not at all what I would call a premium cut. It was also well done. I sent it back. The staff came back with the same steak and said it was what I ordered. When she realized we were not going to go along with that, we have asked several times to ensure they understood, they said it was local beef and they had to cook it well done. I sent it back and told them I did not want another. I then asked for a second San Miguel light. They did not have any…. Needless to say, we will not be back and I would encourage anyone who likes steak yo avoid...

This place is a hit or miss. I've been coming here a lot and sometimes the food is great but other times it's horrible. Definitely not a very consistent place.

I ordered the Chicken Corden Blu several times on occasion for some strange reason sometimes it's good and fresh other times it's hard and dry and obviously not fresh at all. The question is why would you serve a regular customer day old food?

The servers again are hit or miss sometimes they are attentative sometimes they are too busy on their cellphones.

I do have to admit their Mango shakes...

Located in the Xentro mall but there is no mall entry, external entrance only. A good place to eat, the only place in Calapan to have a steak that I am aware of. The steak is a little thin by western standards but is tasty. Fresh vegetables and polite staff. Imported beer is available for those who are willing to pay for it. For some reason they paired the steak with rice and not potatoes so your mashed potatoes (if they have them) is an upgrade. On the whole a good meal and we have been back...
