I rarely leave a review anywhere and weve been travelling the philippines for a couple weeks and after taking my first bite here I was already planning my review. Service: Amazing, he was very welcoming, and made sure our table was cleared consistently and explained all of our dishes and which sauces went with each dish. Atmosphere: Very cute! The vibe was amazing, and i was looking at the paintings and reading the articles they had posted. I love the history tied to this place! And two very cute adorable cats sat next to us which we loved!
Food: My brother and I are half filipino, so we have grown up eating everything filipino but this just blew our minds! I try Pork Sisig everywhere I go, but this sisig was addicting!! It was cooked perfect, and i got spicy this time and I couldnt stop eating it, we had to order another plate of it i didnt even want to share with my boyfriend. The grilled pork belly was absolutely delicious, along with the sauces it came with, i could have drank the sauce haha. And the Calamares is to DIE FOR, the breading was perfect and not too much, and not overcooked one bit. My boyfriend and i were also scooping so much of the delicious sauce that came with it, i cleaned the entire sauce out. And THE GARLIC FRIED RICE ACTUALLY TASTED LIKE GARLIC! Too many places weve ate at, the garlic rice tasted so plain, but this rice and the texture was the BEST rice ive had in the philippines. I also got Chicken Mami Soup to go for my sister who has been sick at our airbnb. It was still piping hot when we got home and she said she could feel herself feeling better with every delicious sip she took.
You can definitely see they care about the meals they create. The portion and price is more than fair, better than anywhere else we have eaten.
The only sad thing is we cant come tomorrow because they are closed :( but we will be back the next day to enjoy one more time before we fly out! This will be the only place we eat at next time we travel back to this area!
This picture doesnt even show everything we got! We ate...
Read moreI recently visited Alex Kafe in Argao, and my experience was a mix of highs and lows.
Positives: Ambiance: The café has a cozy and inviting atmosphere, perfect for a relaxing meal or a casual hangout with friends. The decor is charming, and the outdoor seating area offers a lovely view of the surrounding area. Service: The staff was friendly and attentive. They greeted us warmly upon arrival and were quick to take our orders and check on us throughout our meal.
Negatives: Humbachoy: Unfortunately, the humbachoy was a letdown. It lacked the depth of flavor and richness I was expecting. The meat was tough, and the broth was bland, which was quite disappointing considering the positive reviews I had heard about it. Wait Time: Despite the friendly service, the wait time for our food was longer than expected. It took almost 45 minutes for our main dishes to arrive, which was frustrating.
Noise Level: The café was quite noisy during our visit, making it difficult to have a conversation. The combination of loud music and the chatter of other...

We tried the pork belly rice bowl and chicken curry rice bowl, and both were exceptional. The pork belly had a wonderful smoked and peppery flavor, tender and juicy. The chicken curry, on the other hand, was a sweet and flavorful dish featuring lemongrass, peppers, potatoes, and squash – all blending together for a perfect balance of taste.
As starters, we ordered lumpia and garlic toast, which made for delicious accompaniments to our meal. The lumpia was crispy and flavorful, while the garlic toast was buttery and satisfying.
