The scenery in Gary’s Place is as delectable as the food in its menu being served to guests alfresco from 11:00AM to 5:00PM every day except on Mondays. The coastal vegetation – “nipa” and mangroves – with a mix of ornamental plants and bamboos blend well with the Bali-inspired architectural ornamentation and embellishment such as jars and Hindu statues. This is Nature enhanced by human touch as exemplified by “lunok” roots so engineered to grapple a coconut trunk or to writhe on masonry. Gary’s Place is barely 1.5km from the national highway in San Jose, E.B. Magalona bordering Sitio Luguay, Balaring, Silay City. Lined by trees, a narrow gravel road that splits into two lanes in the second third of the way provides access to the spot that used to be a “punong” or fishpond. Even a car with a low-slung undercarriage can easily negotiate the road that my wife and I found delightful to walk on in one sunny afternoon. The thin canopies of trees on both side of the road and the breeze from the sugarcane fields and low brush provide a cool atmosphere even in the middle of the searing heat of the Sun. Walking through the trees is like going through a tunnel and my wife and I did several pauses to examine a couple of “lunok” along the way among other curiosities. In fact, we found the walk so short because of so many things we capture in photographs and...
Read moreWe went to punong gary's in july for a company activity. I would describe it as a highly interesting place. It was originally a private rest house for the owner's leisure time and just recently, they've decided that they want to share the place with the public. They are strictly on a reservation basis - " this way they can provide you with the best service you deserve" - the manager. The facilities were designed by the family... They have a nice dining area, a gazeebo in the middle of "pond". Their rooms have Interesting location and designs...we were not able to open the room as they have already been sanitized. They have 2 pools, the first located just near their resto and the other in one of the pond's island divider. I must say that im impressed with the owner's vision. The pool's floor color is dark giving it the "river" feel. Swing benches are runaway winners for me. The food is classy and sumptuous. I've had their chicken pasta dish and it is awesome. The place has that "Bali" feel, and you can also see the contemporary artistic side of the designs. Except for mosquito which found me really attractive (been bitten too many) the place is really relaxing and calming. The staff are...
