One of the worst dining experiences as of late, once we entered, the vibe of tangible unease fills the air, a bucket catching rain water dropping from the ceiling welcomes us and the miasma of chairs and tables are feet up in the air as if to say "you are not welcome here" the griminess of the kitchen that you can see once you try to order is disgusting, the whole state of affairs is simply tragic.
The whole main mess hall, is vastly empty, nobody sitting outside on what is supposed to be their main area but are instead more or less lead to an area with air conditioning, the place is ok, but alas, that place we were lead to is more of the cafe appendage to the main empty restaurant situated there.
A group of us ordered our food, pasta, bangus, a smoothie, chicken cordon bleu, and some sisig and WOW!!! The food was what you would say atrocious, the Rice had the consistency of Suman, I thought I was eating budbud, I didn't even use a spoon to eat it, I used my fork for goodness sakes
The quality of the dishes varied since then, the fish and sisig were good but by god the pasta was so strange, there seemed to be carrots and other minced vegetables strewn about, the person who ate it simply exclaimed that it must be "chop suey pasta".
The Chicken Cordon Bleu looked very good on the outside, crispy, with white sauce pouring over, but once I dug in I discovered a big fat blob of a hotdog, now, I know us Filipinos enjoy our hotdogs, but I am not a kid anymore, the hotdog peeked out and disdain slowly formed in my face, and it wasn't even the good kind, it's not no tender juicy hotdog but more of an offbrand, cheap, variety.
The smoothie is just dutchmill, that's it, let me repeat it again so it sticks in your head, the smoothie is just DUTCH MILL, and that's that what they sold for around 140-180 pesos.
Once I was stuck there begrudgingly eating the culinary "delight" in front of me, we were all done, we were all glady out of that experience, with no complaints to the staff since we try to keep being courteous in the instances of awful dining.
But alas, the thing that tipped us off and lit a fire in me to post this review is when the staff didn't allow the people around me who were Senior Citizens avail their well earned discount as is allowed by our government, stating that their cashier went out of the restaurant, ok, so we wait, and we wait, and there are none that arrived, we were ticked off as it doesn't matter at all, the staff should know how to avail this discount as it is a right for the people who have these to exercise them, and staff are trained in these types of situations to know when to avail, but alas they kept stonewalling and we eventually left.
One of the worst places to eat in Kabankalan ever, overrated awful blight of an establishment, we filed a complaint to DTI already...

Located along Justice Perez Highway in Kabankalan, Negros Occidental, Perico Restaurant has long been a familiar stop for travelers and locals seeking generous portions at wallet-friendly prices. With its spacious layout and family-friendly vibe, it’s often chosen for group meals, casual celebrations, and road trip pit stops between Dumaguete and Bacolod.
The menu leans heavily into Filipino comfort food, with standout items like their crispy Lechon Kawali, savory Bangus, and creamy Chicken Cordon Bleu. Their fruit shakes are also a hit, offering a refreshing complement to heavier dishes. While the food is generally satisfying, consistency can be an issue—some guests rave about the flavors, while others report uneven quality, such as soggy rice or oddly prepared pasta that’s been jokingly dubbed “chop suey spaghetti”.
Service is usually warm and accommodating, and the staff are praised for their kindness. However, the ambiance has received mixed feedback. Some diners appreciate the cozy air-conditioned café area, while others note signs of wear in the main dining hall, including leaks and cluttered furniture arrangements.
Despite its imperfections, Perico Restaurant remains a go-to for hearty meals and friendly service. With a bit of polish and consistency, it could easily reclaim its spot as a top dining destination...
