Palay — Restaurant in Malay

3.5 stars. This restaurant is new as of Aug 2022. Go and give them a chance. You'll enjoy a special place that is hopefully improving everyday. Great views. A truly beautiful place. It has potential. I do have some helpful criticisms. Food is good, not great, and portions are not filling. It also took a long time to prepare. The view helps. Prices are generally reasonable. But we paid P200 for one cup of tea! Two cups cost us P400! What's more, they had no drink menu, so we didn't know we were going to get charged so much. The menu is creative and overall decent. But watch out for the sandwiches. Sandwich bread is low quality white bread. Also the prawns in soup are tiny shrimp, not prawns. Don't expect actual prawns. Staff did not notify us of the special, a fish steak that would have been nice to try. Despite all these little problems, I had a genuinely nice time. Friendly staff and good companions and a great view go a long way. Even with food that can improve and some pricing hiccups. Finally: they need a sign off the main road so you know where to turn. Otherwise good luck, add 10 minutes trying to find the right road. Staff onsite are extremely helpful leading you in and out (or rather up and down). Be aware: there are about 70 or 80 steps to the top! I will return and hope to give at least 4...

We stopped by for lunch yesterday with a group of friends and had the most wonderful experience! First visit and definitely not the last! The grounds are stunning and you are instantly transported to a wonderful, serene, calming space. The food was delicious and everything we had was to a very high standard. A great selection to choose from and nothing was too much trouble. Superb drinks offerings…especially if you like gin as there is such a wide selection. Cleofe and Chris are such generous hosts and truly want you to enjoy every moment there. We have already booked our next visit and we are counting down the days! This is the best food and hospitality experience in the Philippines! Absolutely outstanding setting. Our family were so well looked after. From the moment of arrival in this tranquil, stylish haven everything was perfect. Stunning views out across the palm trees and rice fields to the sparkling sea. The food is divine. Fresh, local ingredients expertly prepared and beautifully presented. The whole team are so welcoming. It's so close to Cataclan airport.
