We arrived around 4:30ish on a Sunday. We fully anticipated that it might be a full house with no available tables or parking space, but luckily, there is still a parking space for us and a table for three inside the cafe.
The staff is friendly, inviting, and accommodating. They gave us the menu and helped us get to our table. Even before I completed ordering at the checkout, two of our beverages had already been delivered, which I considered to be impressive. My receipt and a table number for our pending orders were given to me by the cashier.
Our main courses didn't take more than ten to fifteen minutes to prepare. The staff carefully placed each plate on the table before departing. All of our food orders were fulfilled, but one drink order—an iced latte—is still unfulfilled.
A sudden surge of customers didn't enter the café until nearly 30 minutes later, which might indicate that business is prospering but also indicate turmoil in the small, four-wall area.
Customers came inside in groups to line up, get help, and take pictures. We appreciated the cafe's comfort, but it vanished in an instant. There were too many people crammed into the small area, creating a line, and the room was too noisy (including the sound of the coffee machine and the clatter of dishes and cutlery). Some of them were photographing the sofa and accent wall as well.
We've finished eating, but the latte is still not here. We found it a little challenging to follow up because, as previously noted, the area was crowded with customers and we didn't dare go the few steps from the table to the cashier. The staff is occupied serving trays of food and waiting tables.
When they eventually decided to stop taking pictures of the sofa a few moments later, there was a small amount of room left. I took a chance and moved in the direction of the counter display case, whereupon I approached the cafe workers by the galley door and gave them my receipt for the latte. Before it was served with a brief apology, we had to wait for an additional 10 minutes. We then made the decision to go, but we were unable to proceed directly to the door due to the throng of people queuing up by the cashier in groups. Before we could get to the door, we had to yell a few "Excuse-mes" loud enough to be heard.
I have to be honest and say that we didn't leave the cafe satisfied. Please don't get us wrong; the food and drinks were amazing. The menu has a wide variety. The plating and serving size were notable. Like in any other place, the experience can be the dealbreaker for the final rating. Here's a couple of points that we know can be improved over time, but the rest meet the level of satisfaction I believe your business aspires to achieve.
Cashier fiasco: I'm not sure how to handle the cashier situation. On a busy day, customers who queue in groups fill the little space. As previously stated, it detracts from the gentle, easygoing vibe within. The music is scarcely audible. It might be aggravating to dine in a noisy environment where your personal dining space is invaded.
Waiting time: It was our first visit, however the wait for the latte took up the majority of our time. We were only waiting for the last unfinished drink to be served so we could leave.
They have a team of dedicated and pleasant employees. Please be aware that this evaluation does not reflect their performance, and I hope it does not cast a negative light on them.
I might give the cafe another chance on an easy, chill weekday. Despite the above mentioned points, the cafe has reasons to be hyped as one of the hidden gems in...
Read moreThe drink and ambience did it for me.
The place is located in a "forest" biome with canopies of trees on your way here. With that in mind, this is not a place to go because "it's just there". No, you go here because of the place itself. It's located fairly deep into the forest, but still close to a local road in Mendez. There are signs to guide you.
The food here was good. We ordered the Shrimp Pizza, Cheesy Broccoli Soup in a Bread Bowl, their signature Noon Club Sandwich, and Fish and Chips. All of it was good and worth the price.
The bread bowl was served warm and toasty, I'm not sure if they made it themselves but it was a delight as an appetizer. The pizza was flavorfull and very crispy with its thin crust. The fish batter was a little soggy for my liking, but the lemon and tartar sauce brought all of it up.
I had a drink called Choconut? A drink made from the nostalgic Chocnut. Was not too sweet and taste like your childhood.
The ambience was exquisite. I already mentioned the trees and forest vibes, but their furniture also goes this way. Although they went the modern look with table parasols and wooden seats and tables. They have a small interior with where to take orders which is air-conditioned, however they have a large al fresco dining for you to immerse in nature.
The parking was quite spacious catering up to 5 cars and more motorcycles.
The servers were kind and accomodating. I like that they gave us free Kremil-S for us, hahaha, so thoughtful.
They have gcash payment and I like that they have QR PH available so you can use your favorite online banks to pay!
Place 9/10 Food 8/10 Price 9/10
Overall 9/10, would recommend. There were just some loud customers when we were there so I didn't get to fully experience the tranquility the place could have had.
I would recommend...
Read moreWe went here for coffee and pastries. Ordered kiwi fruit soda, Heaven La Tea, butter and jam croissant, and brownie ala mode
The fruit soda tasted great. Not too sweet, which was our preference. The coffee - I'm not sure how to describe it. It didn't taste like coffee. In fact, it tasted weird, but it wasn't so bad either. I guess that's just the price of trying new flavors every now and then.
Their croissant was good, too. Flaky outside, soft on the inside. The jam filling wasn't too sweet as well.
The brownie was a big NO for me. It's super dry. Flaky, sure. But as a baker, it just didn't taste right. Did not even taste like chocolate. It almost tasted like the cheap imitation of Toblerone - Tolerone - the one you buy at the sari-sari store nearby in the early 2000s. The vanilla ice cream was meh. Very Selecta. And the chocolate ganache! Tasted like cheap Flavorade. It wasn't rich or decadent. The serving was small, but I couldn't even bring myself to finish it.
On the brigh side, the ambiance was nice and their service was fast. Malamok lang, but they have incense for that. Akala ko nung...
