Besides the thrill of seeing the popular tourist spots, it's always fun to also find those hidden gems along the way. I have always also enjoyed searching for those types of hidden gems close to home. Well today was one of those days when we were truly amazed to find an incredible new place that is so close to our home. Not only was the location overflowing with spectacular views and natural scenery... but it also features the most incredible man-made landscaping I believe I have ever seen. I have always searched for cool parks or nature trails to explore... but this place felt like when Dorothy's house landed in the land of Oz. Simply incredible. I have the utmost admiration and respect for how the owners discovered this beautiful property, practically in the middle of nowhere... and had the imagination & vision... along with the hard work, skills and resources... to create this incredible botanical garden, along with a fantastic restaurant featuring selections of both French & Filipino cuisine. The food and service was excellent. The botanical garden is amazing. It has cottages, fish pond, decorations... winding concrete trails, incredible landscaping featuring plants, trees, rocks, and coconut shells. In the works is a zip-line and innertube slide. This place is very new - opened just recently by a local couple - a Frenchman and his Filipina wife. It has been 3 years in the making... and the results are breathtaking. I am positive that this park and restaurant is on it's way to becoming a very popular tourist attraction here in Davao del Norte. It's a beautiful drive, and thankfully I had Google Maps GPS on my cell phone to guide me... but I can't recommend it enough. Absolutely awesome!...
