The place is nice and and the ambiance is great! It also has a picturesque view of Mt. Matutum from their outdoor dining area.
What I did not like lang when I arrived was the immediate greeting of flies, and they are not the small kind but the big ones you call BANGAW. A bit bummed out lang kay I was looking forward to dine in on their outdoor dining area, so that I could enjoy Mt. Matutum as my view but the cloud of flies prevented me from doing that.
Theresa's Tavern feels really cozy and rustic. They have a bar made of wood and a viewing kitchen that customers can look through so they can see their food being prepared while they wait.
Their food was a hit and miss (unfortunately-- mostly a miss). I ordered the Tomato & Basil Spaghetti and it smells so good and I was really expecting it to taste good also, but unfortunately it was a let down and just tasted okay. The pasta was cooked properly but the tomato & basil spaghetti sauce just fell short, the spaghetti was not bad but it's not that good either.
I also ordered a Rancher's Burger because burgers are one of my favorite meals, and I can finish an overly large number of burgers in one sitting and would usually order for more but the Rancher's Burger is an exception, due to the fact that this is THE ONE BURGER that I can not and will not finish.
The meat is such an overly processed mess that it taste worse than a cheap burger patty you can buy in a grocery. You can't even tell what type of meat it is. The meat is mushy and soggy and it is such an unedible soft, wet and pulpy mass, that I chose not to finish it. The only redeeming quality of the Rancher's Burger is the pickle relish that they put in it. The grilled potato that comes with it tasted awfully bland although it is powdered and coverd with seasoning.
Although the food is not that good, the same can not be said with the service because the service in here is exceptional and the staff is nice and accomodating. There was not a moment where I tried to call any of the waiting staffs attention as they are very observant and would approach you with their own initiative to cater to your needs.
What I also liked about the place is their flexible mode of payment. They accept Cash, GCash and Credit/Debit Cards for payment.
Overall, the place is good, food is expensive and falls short in taste, the staff is nice and polite and the place provides a cozy ambiance; and hey, there's horses around the place because the Tavern is...
Read moreWe had dinner there yesterday and the customer service in this restaurant is TERRIBLE. It needs a lot of improvement. It is comparable to eating in a carenderia or eatery in the main town of Polomolok. The place is not even packed with customers for us to be not served well. We sat down and they didn’t even bother to serve us water to drink. They didn’t even bother to tell us what’s in the menu or what items are already out by that time (the nachos item we want to have but not available anymore). The waiter took a very long time to attend to us and ask us for anything we want to drink. I had to stand up and go to their counter to order two gin and tonic and the person happens to be the restaurant manager. And this order took a long time. A simple cocktail took along time to be served. They finally served us glasses of water after we are way finished with our appetizers. We got our order of appetizers and they didn’t even bother to give us cutleries and plates to use. One of us had to stand up and get one from the shelves. We have to call their attention to give us cutleries and plates. The beef stroganoff is like chewing on rubber pieces. The rosemary pork chop is very thin and tough like a cardboard. They served us the wrong chicken wings instead of the Buffalo flavor we ordered. The fish and chips appetizers came out after we are done with our main dishes. They forgot to serve the Salpicao that one of us order and had to wait 20 minutes later after everybody already finished our dinner. we had to talked to the restaurant manager that the meat dishes we had were tough. They didn’t even give us steak knives to cut these meat and we have to ask for it. Fortunately one of us ordered the burger and he said he liked it. The location and scenery outside is very beautiful. It wasn’t clear that the P250 per person we pay to get in only P200 is actually consumable to restaurant orders. The P50 is for the entrance fee. These I have to clarify from the waiter. In spite of the terrible customer service and talking to the manager about these, we were not even offered any recompense. At least he got the feedback from the customer. Nice location but the restaurant customer service...
Read moreWe weren't informed that there was a non-consumable entrancee fee (P50/pax). It would have been better if the whole amount of the entrance fee was consumable esp if you're dining at the restaurant, which is highly likely since there isn't anything to do here unless you're interested in riding the horses. Lots of outdoor sitting areas so you can bring outside food if you'd rather not order from the restaurant. Food is so-so; there were some great dishes and not-so-great dishes like the mashed potatoes- real potatoes were used but lacking in flavor, we had to ask for butter to season it. Some of the chicken were undercooked. Cowboy's soup and Garden Salad tasted great. Steak was priced at Php 3-3.50/gram, and ours came to a total of Php2,000, however it was a local steak and for that price it was a bit underwhelming. BBQ pizza was also a bit too sweet, and the dough was too thin at the center so everything falls off. The only selling point of this place is the ambiance (cool area and relaxing view), and the horses; spoke to one of the caretakers and he was very knowledgeable about them and it shows that he loves taking...
