caffe italia restaurant — Restaurant in Puerto Galera

My family and I was looking for something different other than Filipino food. I asked a foreigner, possibly Italian by his accent, if the food was good and if it was like what he ate at home. He said it was good and thanked him: gratsi and he replied bon appetit (he could’ve been French).

I ordered the the seafood soup and my wife ordered marinara, garlic and mushrooms. There was no cheese in it and it was perfect for my wife who is eating plant based food.

The soup was great and the pizza good!!! I was afraid that it would be made with the local taste but to our surprise it was not. It was close to Italian/Mediterranean.

If I go back to Puerto Galera and my family has a craving for Italian then we will...

Very good food. There is a very good selection of authentic Italian foods. Be careful when ordering subs as prices rise dramatically with extra toppings. 50 pesos extra if you ask a few slices of onion...another 50 pesos extra if you ask few slices of tomato. ...another 50 pesos extra for one piece of lettuce...a sub that would normally cost 200 pesos is now costing 350 pesos with the toppings...not a good value in my opinion. A few days ago I had the Diavolo pizza. It was outstanding. I asked for some anchovies on it and got them no extra cost. A pizza is not a pizza without anchovies. They are just a condiment. Tonight I had a mushroom and ham pizza and similarly asked for anchovies. I was not told when I ordered, but they added 50 pesos for the anchovies, the pizza was insipid, not seasoned, soggy and tasted like cardboard.
