This is a great place to shop or to have a quick bite of New York style pizza, fried chicken, calzones, burgers and hotdogs. Note that you don't need membership for this. Oh and the hotdog is great. Pizza is just as big as in New York/New Jersey but not as good unfortunately. Fried chicken is a hit or a miss - sometimes the chicken is already past its freshness.
I was excited to shop in S&R at first, but I rated this only three stars due to the fact that the main reason one signed up for is the members only shopping for US products not commonly found elsewhere. Second would be the price. Which unfortunately is mediocre. Pointers as follows:
*There are only a number of US brand goods that are for sale here that are priced great. Hormel peperonis are my favourite and found them only here (always bought them in New Jersey). Johnson's are available but my fave Jalapenos flavour are not (and no they're not $3 here but that's expected). Unfortunately no Nathan's or Sabrett. These are the only ones I go for. USDA steaks looks like they've been frozen for quite a while. Salmon looks ok but I rather take the long trek to Farmers Cubao and have fresh ones.
*A lot of US products are found in other stores and are priced lower.
*Some products which are made in Philippines and other Asian countries are priced higher than in other stores. Though there are a few good finds.
*Meats and produced mostly are local and often more expensive.
With these pointers, there is little point on extending membership for another year - unlike Costco in the US - now that is a better value (then again there's Walmart and Amazon and they ship...
Read moreTo all my fellow Muslimahs, it is best to go with a companion to any establishments in the Philippines, most especially to this kind of membership shopping center.
I've experienced harassment and discrimination from the newly hired guard; months since I've started to shop regularly at the mentioned site.
My second encounter was with the male cashier and the manager himself. It was due to a couple of insensitive customers who didn't want to get back to the end of the line. But instead, they'd rather ask the cashier or hold back other customers, including myself, and waste everybody's time.
I got tired of waiting and asked the cashier to proceed to the next payer (me). He didn't say anything and SNUBBED ME. Once again, I felt upset. I asked for his manager. When I asked again, he pointed to this big guy. I tried to call the manager's attention. But he kept going and was continuously speaking with other staff.
It's difficult to unnoticed me since I got the height. So there's no excuse at all. After the third attempt, I GOT THE MANAGER'S ATTENTION. I then asked if there's a rule if a customer held's back a cashier's queue for forgetting some items that he/she wants to buy. The manager said that there's nothing he can do.
I've suggested a resolution but got denied, saying that I should've just asked the cashier to get something I forgot. Therefore, I've concluded that they don't respect customer's time regardless of whether he or she...
Read moreOne of the biggest draws of S&R is their fantastic selection of imported items. From their renowned Kirkland Signature products to a wide array of international cheeses, meats, snacks, and beverages, you'll often find things here that are difficult to source elsewhere in the Philippines. This makes it a perfect destination for stocking up on gourmet ingredients or simply indulging in your favorite foreign treats.
Beyond the imports, S&R also shines in its fresh produce, meat, and seafood departments. The quality is consistently high, and buying in larger quantities often translates to significant savings, especially for families or those who like to meal prep. Their rotisserie chicken is a perennial favorite, known for being delicious and generously sized.
And of course, no S&R review would be complete without mentioning their food court. The famous S&R pizza, hotdogs, and clam chowder are iconic for a reason – they're consistently good, affordable, and perfect for a quick bite after a satisfying shopping trip.
While the membership fee might give some pause, the savings from bulk purchases, exclusive discounts (especially on fuel at Unioil for members), and the sheer variety of high-quality goods often make it well worth the investment. The overall shopping experience is pleasant, with spacious aisles and generally...
