It was a long drive coming here and the traffic out of Manila was pretty bad.
Anyway, we went here for the food and the view. We arrived after lunch and I guess it wasn't a busy period for them. We were able to park in front of the restaurant and there weren't many customers (only 2 tables were occupied).
We got the fried dalag, inihaw na liempo, chopsuey, chicken adobo sa gata, garlic butter shrimp and halo-halo. The staff that assisted us was really friendly and helpful and our order didn't take too long to arrive.
Surprisingly for us, we gave the chopsuey the highest rating. It tasted delicious, the vegetables were cooked just right, and the chicken liver was a nice sahog. Kung baga, kahit yung chopsuey lang at kanin, okay na.
The liempo, the adobo sa gata, and the shrimp were also delicious. You can taste the freshness and quality of the ingredients. The liempo was simple, but it was really good. It was roasted perfectly. It was soft and just flavorful.
The adobo sa gata was just creamy and savory. I couldn't get enough of it, and it was not nakakaumay.
The shrimp! Just buttery and garlicky. And it was spicy, which was actually a nice surprise for our tastebuds.
Now the pritong dalag. It was really cooked well. I mean, it was fried perfectly. But not really our favorite. Felt like it lacked seasoning. I mean we can taste the freshness of the fish, but we found it a bit bland. For the halo-halo, it was too sweet for me, so I was not really able to enjoy it (kept adding cold water to lessen the sweetness).
All in all, the food was really good. The main reason why KTL got 3 stars was because of the flies. It was everywhere. And you really have to keep your guard up while you're eating coz they will be on your food, your glass, your plate, just everywhere. The fan and the candles that the staff gave us didn't help. We were not able to enjoy our food as much since we have to swat some flies once in a while. It was really bothersome.
Anyway, after the meal, we had a little walk sa...
Read moreI’ve been to this restaurant several times with my family, and the food is always amazing! It’s real lutong bahay (home-cooked) Filipino food, affordable, generous servings, and full of flavor.
They offer a good selection of fish, pork, seafood, and vegetables. The menu isn’t huge, but it’s just right, and that’s a good sign, they really focus on making every dish delicious.
The place has a charming, traditional vibe. It looks like an old house turned into a restaurant, kind of like a big bahay kubo (nipa hut). It feels warm and authentic.
Parking is easy too, it’s in a separate lot near another house, so you can park safely. The staff are friendly and attentive. We usually make a reservation in advance, and when we arrive, our food is ready and still warm. Big thumbs up for their service!
There’s also a nearby lighthouse you can visit while waiting for your food if you didn’t pre-order. The view is nice, and there are some food stalls around as well.
This has become our go-to restaurant for family celebrations. Highly...
Read moreNestled near the tranquil laguna lake, this restaurant boasts a rich heritage dating back to 1967. The allure of fresh water seafood specialties and a pleasant ambiance sets a promising stage.
The food, undoubtedly a highlight, reflects the culinary expertise gained over the years. The menu showcases a variety of delectable dishes, and the fresh water seafood specialty is a definite must-try.
However, the service aspect leaves room for improvement. Even during non-peak hours, the service falls short of expectations. A notable downside is the lack of communication about unavailable items, leading to unnecessary waits unless one actively follows up.
Despite these service hiccups, the restaurant manages to salvage its reputation with consistently good food. For those who prioritize a lakeside dining experience with a taste of tradition, this spot is worth considering, with the hope that service improvements are on...
