Well, this was a great experience. Very underrated place.
Let’s start off with the venue. I was expecting a pretty large place with a lot of space, but it turned it to be a small cozy place with cramped space and it still works. The cafe is part of 3 restaurants with the other 2 restaurants being another cafe and a ramen shop. There is a lot parking space for the venue as well. The view is great as well which can add to your relaxation. The place is good for small groups, but it’s fine if you’re a big group. There are lo-fi music and jazz playing in the speakers which fits the atmosphere really well. Now let’s talk about the food.
The first food that was served was the mango sticky rice dessert. It’s a sweet dessert with, you guessed it, sticky rice along with the gata that complements to the sweetness of the dessert topped with the mango to contrast it. Then we were served the drinks we ordered which were the sweet green milk and thai milk tea for me. I wouldn’t say I regret ordering the milk tea, but I really could’ve ordered the green milk that my mother ordered. I recommend the green milk because it really tastes amazing. Then, the main course arrived. We ordered the Pad Kra Pao, Satay Gai, Pad Thai, Khao Pad, Sriracha Wings, and Tom Yum. Basically we ordered everything at the 2nd page. For me, I tasted everything except Pad Kra Pao. I was expecting Satay Gai to be big, but it was apparently a barbecue type of serving. It tasted pretty great as well. It was mixed with the spices of coriander, turmeric, and curry powder. I ate this with Khao Pad fried rice, our good old partner. It contained some herbs and an amount of chili topped with a pair of shrimp. The Pad Thai has this interesting sourness contrasting it with the sweet peanut butter. There were also other spices and condiments in the plate so you can set your own taste for the pad thai. The Sriracha Wings were small served with the spicy sauce that you can dip it with. The Tom Yum soup has a balanced sourness and spiciness, and it works pretty well. It isn’t that creamy but that would be fine. It came along with some mushrooms and shrimp.
Overall the food is pretty pricey but it is pretty tasty and delicious. I guess we got too curious and ended up ordering everything, but it was worth it. The food has a small serving size, so I would recommend ordering at least two from the main course and the fried rice, or solo servings for each person. Or perhaps order the food you want again if you’re still hungry. The serving time is pretty fast and the service is decent. This was worth the money, and I enjoyed the experience. I recommend this cafe...
Read moreTried out Kamala because of all the videos and aesthetically pleasing photos we have been seeing online.
We had to wait in line for about 10-15 mins since it was lunch time and there's a lot of people. However, we noticed that we are not being entertained compared to the prestige family next to us. The staff offered them to give out their orders already and we were asked to wait although we came there before them.
Service Time: We had to wait for almost an hour for our food, lahat na ata nabigyan and nakaalis na yung ibang kasabay namin pero yung orders namin hindi pa rin nabibigay. They just started preparing it nung nakita nilang naiinis na kami, because sobrang gutom na kami malala.
Pad Kra Pao Gai: Just a normal stir fried pork with vegetable and it tastes too salty.
Satay Gai: It was a bit bland, although it tastes familiar. The sauce pulled it through the ruins though
Hat Yai Fried Chicken: It was a salty crispy fried chicken
Pink Milk: Familiar tastes of milk sago
Overall, we didn't have a pleasant experience here. It's important to give out your best service mapa mas mukhang may kaya yung customer or not. Service time should always be checked, gutom na gutom na yung customer and we have been following up multiple times pero walang update. Yung lunch namin...
Read moreJust dropping a note about a hidden gem we found in Tanay - Kamala. My word, the mountain views and look over Laguna de bay are to die for! But what’s more? The place itself is super cool, so design lovers, heads up!
We dropped by early on a Thursday, around 8am. Guess we were the early birds, so had the whole place to ourselves. Perfect spot for a chilled-out date if you ask me.
The culinary experience at Kamala was indeed a delight. The Fresh Spring Rolls made a stellar starter, followed by a tantalizing Pad Kra Pao, flushed with the perfect amount of spice, tailored to personal preference. The Black Pepper Tofu was another surprising delight that left us asking for more.
Concluding the meal with their Mango Sticky Rice dessert came highly recommended, and it didn't disappoint!
My better half found her soul drink in Chai Yen hot Milk Tea. Though not on the menu, Kamala also serves a robust Espresso. I was gratified by the single shot I had, rightly served in a demitasse to my contentment.
One thing’s for sure, for all that they offer, the prices don’t make your wallets cry. Neat, huh?
All I’m saying is, we're definitely heading back – Kamala has given us one of the best times in...
