Great Food, Great Vibes — A Delicious Family Experience at Funside Ningnangan, San Fernando
We had the pleasure of dining at Funside Ningnangan in San Fernando during a family trip, and it was honestly one of the best food stops we made in Pampanga. We came as a full group — my wife, our daughter, my parents, my brother, and his girlfriend — and everyone left happy, satisfied, and already planning to come back the next time we’re in town.
Funside Ningnangan offers that classic dampa-style dining experience, where you get to choose your fresh seafood and meats, and have them cooked just the way you like it. The variety they offer is impressive — from fresh tilapia, bangus, pusit, shrimp, and crabs, to barbecue, liempo, and even exotic dishes for the more adventurous. There’s truly something for everyone.
We ordered a bit of everything — grilled squid, buttered shrimp, inihaw na liempo, ensaladang talong, and their super flavorful pancit. Every dish was cooked perfectly and served hot and fast. You could tell the ingredients were fresh, and the flavors were spot on — smoky, savory, and satisfying. The portions were great for sharing, which made it ideal for our big family.
The setup is casual, relaxed, and family-friendly — large tables, open-air dining, and a festive vibe that makes it feel like a laid-back food fiesta. Our 3-year-old daughter had space to move around and was comfortable the whole time, which really matters to us when we eat out. My parents also loved the lutong-bahay style cooking, which reminded them of traditional backyard gatherings.
Another thing worth mentioning is how organized the staff were despite the place being busy. They were efficient, approachable, and made sure we got everything we needed. Even with the large crowd, the service didn’t feel rushed or chaotic — they handled everything smoothly.
Dining at Funside Ningnangan isn’t just about the food, it’s also about the experience. It’s a great place to bring family or friends, share good food, and enjoy each other’s company in a lively, welcoming environment. Pampanga is known for its food culture, and this place definitely lives up to the reputation.

Chicharon were fried to crispy perfection. Ang sarap ng suka on the side! Chopsuey was half-cooked, just how I prefer it—vegetables not too hard or too soft. Sisig is prepared the Kapampangan way: pork with lots of onion, no eggs or mayo. I could taste it was smoked or grilled first prior to frying on a sizzling plate.
From the grill: tuna belly (good but gets a bit too firm if you don’t consume it immediately), chicken and pork BBQ, liempo. All pair well with the sweet in-house BBQ sauce.
Presko iyong lugar. Comfort rooms and lavatories for handwashing are relatively clean. Cash-only basis for payment, would appreciate it if they could include cashless payments like Maya, GCash, and credit cards.

The establishment has an open-area concept with plenty of tables and chairs. However, cleanliness seems to be an issue, as some of the tables were not properly maintained. A more significant concern was the presence of numerous flies, which made it difficult to enjoy the meal. Furthermore, while we were eating, a staff member was sweeping the open area, and the dust mixed with leaves from the ground was carried by the wind directly toward our food.
While the affordable prices and decent parking are positives, the overall dining experience is hindered by the lack of cleanliness and the disturbing incident with...
