I ended up at this restaurant by chance — the one I wanted to go to in Praia de Mira was closed for holidays, and the only other place nearby with a vegan option offered pasta with vegetables. I found this one on HappyCow and called ahead, only to learn the kitchen would close at 2:30 pm. I was a bit disappointed since that was exactly how long the drive there would be, but the owner kindly told me to come anyway, assuring me that five or ten minutes wouldn’t make a difference — and even advised me not to drive too fast. That already gave me a great impression.
The restaurant sits right by the lagoon, with a car park that opens onto a field where two horses were peacefully grazing. The walls are painted with sea and autumn motifs, creating a cozy, artistic atmosphere.
There’s a dedicated vegan section on the menu, and the staff actually know what vegan means — a rare and very welcome surprise. Their garlic “butter” is vegan (yay!), though they were honest enough to tell me their bread isn't as it contains egg.
We tried the vegan stroganoff and the vegan al forno. Read moreFair warning: it can get pretty packed on a weekend so you might want to call and reserve a table in advance. Their pasta dishes are fairly standard fare and not really special but their pizzas are really good quality. Comparable to some pizza I've had in NYC. My only complaint is the lack of pepperoni. A pizza ain't pizza without pepperoni! Guys if you folks from the restaurant are reading this, invest in...

Tudo excepcional.
