You need to book in advance.! (A restaurant is busy for a reason, and that reason is that it is a very, very good place)

Let's talk about the restaurant..

Situated at the edge of town, Casa dos Leitões occupies a picturesque spot over looking the green, tree filled park which borders the river. Take a walk after your meal..

Inside is light and airy with room to relax at the dining tables. The restaurant has a warm and welcoming atmosphere and is decorated with traditional and historical items. It's comfortable and feels quite homey.

Outside is an area which has approximately 6 dining tables and is bright and sheltered from the sun and wind.

Finally to the front is a small dining area which seats a maximum of about 8 people.

The food.! Casa dos Leitões is specifically just that, they specialize in leitão, which to anyone not Portuguese is a roasted piglet. Portion size is amazing, listen to the staff, because they will understand better just how much you will need for your table of people. (But after you've tried it for the first time, you may want more!!)

Batatas fritas (crisp type potato chips, which are cut and cooked on site.! No frozen here!!) salada and sliced oranges are served with your leitão.

Drinks? What would you like, for me it's got to be a crisp, frisante vinho verde with leitão, but there are many choices, that's up to you.

And finally, the make or break of any restaurant; the staff..!! And I can honestly say, that i have never, ever felt so welcome at any restaurant ever before, such amazing, knowledgeable, attentive, dedicated, friendly and personable staff.!! Thank you all for the fantastic service you provided to myself and my family during our two visits to your Wonderful restaurant.!!👏👏👏👏👏👏

The leitao was perfect but the service, and bad attitude of the personnel was not good nor inviting. A restaurant can have the best food but if the service isn’t good and personnel is rude and ignorant. Pretending not to understand even when spoken in their same language, then I would not recommend it to anyone. Because the experience of the food gets damaged with such a bad service, Attitude and dismissive attitude towards the customers. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. This is a real traditional Portuguese family restaurant.

You only get one dish :

The famous Leitão served with homemade chips and salad.

The meat was tender and their crust was crispy. Only delicious.

They have a huge wine card from all regions of the country.
