We had a most lovely dinner. The wine of the house (escola) was delightful amd very reasonably priced, and the wine list would have been about 20p long with excellent choices. The service made us all (we are a family with 2 kids) immediatly comfortable with good humour and swift and attentive service. Above all, however, the food was excellent - unsophisticated, but so heat warming. I had tge pigeon stew, which reminded me of long forgotten flavours from my grandmother’s cooking. The octopus salad that was served as a free amuse bouche was perfectly tender. The choco fritto was crispy and light, the seafood rice had a refreshing hint of mint that raised it above many others, and my daughters steak was a notch above the others we had this vacation. The environment was spacious - placed in an old primary school building renovated, reminded me of italian osterie. I would come back here many a times if we hadn’t had to go back home! The phone line is a little capricious thiugh, so consider calling their mobile phone number if you can’t reach them:...

The lady serving us I assume was the owner brought us a pine nut covered tart and poured Moscatel over the top along with a measure each for our coffee. Sublime!!!! Start to finish perfect. A bottle of delightful Herdade dos Grous to wash it all down and the bill came in at 74 Euros! Yes outside Comporta but definitely worth an email to reserve a table. Thank you so much for a...

The shrimps were absolutely delicious although I was surprised they were served cold. This dish is very hands-on so if you're not a fan of working for your shrimp beware.
Contrary to many other recommendations, the shrimp and cuttlefish rice dish was nothing special. I found it too watery and lacking in flavor. The beef steak was decent but nothing to write home about. We also had the fried cuttlefish which was cooked really well.
The staff are very friendly and accommodating during the very busy lunch period. Note that you cannot make reservations so sitting a large group may be difficult.
The wine selection...
