Atelier do Doce — Restaurant in Alcobaça

Lovely bakery. Excellent home-made items. However I've dropped it one star because the coffee is very poor. Tastes like instant coffee rather than fresh beans.

A few people have pointed out that this is a bakery and not a cafe, and should be reviewed as such. However, I beg to differ. They have tables and chairs so you can eat your items there. There's a coffee machine so that you can have a drink too. And if you buy just 1 or 2 items, they'll ask if it's to eat now. If it is, they'll just put it on a cardboard tray rather than in a box.

So yes, they are a bakery. But they're also trying to be a cafe too. And for that reason they deserve to be judged as both.

Go for the pastries and cakes and doughnuts. They're wonderful. Take a box of them home.with you . But don't go out for a cake and a coffee, thinking that this is a quality cafe with good coffee, because it's not. Hopefully, if enough people post similar reviews they might get a better coffee machine. Then the place...

Amazing bakery.

This is a bakery, not a cafe. If you want to eat inside there are tables and chairs and a coffee machine.. but people, please remember this is a real working bakery, the cakes and pastries are amazing, please remember this when you review this as a bakery not down grade it because it is not a cafe.

I have seen too many reviews of less than 5 stars all from people who have rated it as if it is a restaurant or cafe, I think these are unrealistic and unfair reviews.

My visit there was fantastic. Service is excellent, with knowledgeable, friendly staff and the product on sale is outstanding.

This place is beyond amazing for pastries! My boyfriend (who lives near here) brought me here for a reason. The shop area itself has lots of great spices, teas, chocolates, wine, etc. The actual display of pastries was great, I mean they really had everything-cheesecakes, chocolates, cakes, etc. They even had different coffees and tea you could order. This has legitimately been the only place in Portugal I’ve been able to have an iced latte which was incredible. They had a really cute seating area inside and lots of outdoor seating as well.
