Caseiro Minho — Restaurant in Amares

The waiter was nice and helped us as best he could with his knowledge of the english language. The owner was horrible. When we sat down three starters were brought to us, bread, olives and toppings, and cold gamba’s. We hadn’t asked for any of these and they were even brought before we had a menu and no one said anything about them, so we naturally assumed they were free. Yet when the check arrived we were charged 15 euros for those and upon asking about it the owner let a nice waiter argue with us about it. After asking to see the owner the charges were suddenly dropped. Just because we’re are foreigners doesn’t mean we can be swindled. Treat your customers...

We made reservations the day before we came, and it's a Saturday evening, so one would expect the restaurant to be prepared.

We waited 1.5h from the order to get the first dish. No one said anything, no excuses, no sorries.

We were so disappointed, which is a pity, because the quality of the sushi was really good. A large restaurant seating 60-80 people, had only one sushi chef. Take it off the menu if you don't know how to manage a restaurant for God's sake!

It's worth saying, the waiter wasn't the issue, nor the one and only sushi chef. The owner and manager should be ashamed...

I'm absolutely impressed! Definitely the best restaurant in Amares....and perhaps the only one place you can find sushi (try octopus is a must!). Grilled beef ribs (rear possible and will be close to medium) are amazing! Be aware about huge size of the portion. Interesting interior. However very popular place so reservation is highly recommended (even despite few rooms). Prices are very reasonable (not cheap, but worth every penny). Nice service... even English speaking. Friday is live music 🎶...so 100% perfect place to be...
