Something that from the first moment that I arrived to Terceira Island it surprised me was the quality of local businesses include restaurant. Caneta restaurant is also one of them. It is located in middle of a beautiful rural road and small village which cause you to disseminate it's value, however as soon as you enter the cozy beautiful garden of it which look like the lost garden, will change your mind. As I did. The love drunk birds 🐦on trees in the garden, with local beautiful flowers and small golden fishes pool, let you enjoy your waiting time to get your table. May be the mistake of not having a booked table provides you an unexpected opportunity to enjoy this lovely garden and increase your curiosity for the indoor environment. Now, you walk inside and the beautiful woody ceiling will get your attention and a nice bar is infront of you. Traditional local arts also added an especial touch to the place that you feel hmmmm it's good to be here. The nice, dedicated, professional, and helpful hosts are there to provides what you request. And yes, food, it is a very delicious and good quality traditional foods with a big variety in the menu. You can get some sausage, goat cheez, pepper sauce, with bread for your appetiser, and wait a bit for your main course. Desserts also could make different types of tastes happy, people that like home made Dessert and people that like mass production. And the price for all of all of these is €. We loved our lunch sitting outside in the beautiful garden. When ordering our food at the bar inside, the staff clearly communicated to us, that we had to fend for ourselves when sitting outside, because they only serve foor in the restaurant inside. So we had to set our own table and take our drinks outside by ourselves. We didn't mind though, because we could clearly see the restaurant was very busy. All tables were occupied and people were queueing to get in. When our food was ready, the waiter took our food to the first floor balcony and from there gave it to us.
It was worth the hassle though, because the food was excellent. My squid was great and the beef my boyfriend ordered was equally as good. Highly recommended, but next time, we'll make sure to have...
Read moreWe found this place almost by accident. Everywhere else was closed and when we walked in, we were asked if we had reservations, we said no. At first, I thought all was lost, but after a few minutes, the manager waved us to a table. We were very happy to be seated. We had a very sweet and friendly server who helped us to choose a bottle of wine. We ordered beef carpaccio to start, and it was in the top three of any I've had...the other two were in Bouchon in Napa Valley, and a boutique restaurant in Rome. It was amazing. For lunch, I had lingua estufada (beef tongue stew) and my wife had a house steak....which was charred on the outside and cooked to a perfect medium rare. Easily one of the best steaks ever, simply prepared and perfectly executed. If you get a chance, go to this place. It's a gem that few get to experience, and I wish we could go back...
