q.b. - Food Court — Restaurant in Angra do Heroísmo

There is a snack bar on the ground level and a fancy restaurant on top. Both offer outdoor seating as well. We got a corner table with high chairs in the snack bar area as we had no previous reservation and the restaurant was full at dinner time. Service was kind and quick. They provided us with menus in English. We had beef burgers, nicely arranged on a plate with some vegetables. They have different burger options with nice taste combinations, with sunny side up egg, with goat cheese etc. The meat is very lean but the whole dish is juicy enough. For desert, we had chocolate cake which was good but a bit on the dry side. Prices are very affordable. The next day we also tried the restaurant, booked a table in advance. Amazing culinaric experience! The food in the upper floor restaurant is really top notch, daring tastes, high quality meat, beautiful presentation! We had an amazing beef steak, with many lovely side dishes, and the most tender duck breast in mango sauce. To wrap up this delicious journey, we had a chocolate mouse with red pepper and olive oil (yes, this works together!) and crème brulee with seasonal fruits. The food was one of the better ones I eaten I on the Island. I admit, I was quite frustrated on the Island as the island had some amazing produce i have ever tasted but I haven't had a meal that I was entirely happy. My BF was raised on the Island and suggested this place as it was one of the better ones. We went upstairs, supposedly the better restaurant with service. The chilli jam was light and with clean flavour. The squid starter was incredible, the flavour well balanced, quite inventive. They even make there own aniseed olive oil , it was amazing, shame I couldn't buy it. I asked but it is not for sale... The only downside I had was the fish I had was overcooked but the yam sauce was very interesting in a good way. My bf steak was overcooked. We have had several steak on this Island in various " better restaurant" and it is so disappointing that even though the meat is good , each time we asked for a medium rare steak, we been served fully cooked steak each time! Horrible service (upstairs), after visiting here 6 times in the past year and receiving good service and excellent food I was very surprised with our last visit.

We waited 1.5 hours for our appetizers and when we did receive them one was not cooked properly and was sent back. We didn't finish our food and ended up canceling our entrées and left to find another restaurant. The frustrating part was that we were never offered a drink refreshment during our wait or even offered something small to eat to keeps us occupied during our wait.

The part that was annoying was that another table that arrived 15 minutes after us was served their appetizers and entrées by the time we got our appetizers.
