During our trip to Douro Valley, my companions and I stumbled upon a hidden gem of a restaurant just 40 minutes outside of Lisbon in a charming village. Our experience at this establishment was nothing short of exceptional, and I felt compelled to share our wonderful dining experience.

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by Andrea, our server, whose hospitality and warmth made our meal truly memorable. Andrea guided us through the menu, offering excellent recommendations for starters, salads, and main courses. Each dish we ordered was prepared to perfection, especially the tomahawks and T-bones, which were cooked just the way we liked them.

One of the highlights of our dining experience was Andrea's expertise in wine pairing. She handpicked wines that complemented our meals flawlessly and even provided recommendations for wines to take home. Her attentiveness throughout our meal was commendable, as she checked in on us regularly to ensure everything was to our liking.

The ambiance of the restaurant added to the overall charm of our evening. It's evident that this place is a hidden gem, and I highly recommend visiting if you find yourself near Lisbon. Love this place! It's a hidden gem in a real Ribatejan village Aveiras de Cima. We were surprised by their modern, creative, and delicious dishes with well balanced flavours and 😍. The people are very nice and the place has a nice atmosphere.

We tried some dishes with nice combined wines: • couvert with fresh bread, three different home made butters and fresh cheese • warm goat cheese with pear portwine jam • gratin cheese with compote • fried squid strips (perfect texture!) With ink mayonaise • flamed shrimps with asparagus • tournedo and beef cheek with orange salad and bean rice • mousse de chocolate with sea salt • Pudim dos Monges with maracuja sauce • vintage Port wine

My favourite? Hard to choose! Loved the cheese with pears, and the shrimps but the squid strips really surprised me in a positive way too. Never had...

Ich wurde aufgrund Empfehlungen auf das Restaurant aufmerksam. Vielleicht waren meine Erwartungen etwas zu hoch. Als erstes muss ich die absolut freundliche Bedienung Andrea loben, sie war sehr bemüht und höflich. Das Essen kam schnell. Der Wein war lecker, aber schon etwas länger geöffnet, was man an der Gärung gemerkt hat. Das Ambiente ist schön und ordentlich. Rechnung kommt in einer kleinen Box, fand ich sympathisch. Leider fing da die Enttäuschung an. Ich bestellte ein Bullen-Steak Medium Rare. Es war Rare. Klar, kann man zurück schicken, aber wer mal selbst in der Gastronomie gearbeitet hat, der weiß, dass das keine Option ist. Ansonsten war es ganz lecker, auch die Homemade-Pommes waren ok. Rechtfertigen aber nicht den Preis. Generell hat der ganze Staff, bis auf den Lichtblick Andrea, kaum etwas freundliches ausgestrahlt. Der nicht englischsprachige Kellner hat nicht mal ordentlich Hallo gesagt, wirkte als hätte er kein Bock. Hat bei seinen Landsleuten tatsächlich mal ein paar Worte rausbekommen und wirkte da nicht so. Sprache hin oder her, ein freundliches Hallo kann man von jeder Bedienung erwarten. Der Koch wirkte lustlos, vielleicht ist Mittwoch einfach kein guter Tag zum Essen dort. Über all das könnte ich noch hinweg sehen, aber bei den Preisen schlackern einen die Ohren. Überdurchschnittlich hoch und für das Gesamtpaket einfach viel zu wenig. Aus Prinzip daher auch kein Dessert genommen, was ich unter anderen Umständen (fairem Pricing) gern probiert hätte, denn die Bilder sahen echt gut aus. Zum Abschluss draußen der Raucher Bereich, mit einem Schild neben dran, dass man hier wegen Gas nicht rauchen soll. 😂 Passt zum Gesamteindruck. Und zur Antwort des Restaurants: Der Preis des Steaks war auf der Karte ja, aber falsch gebratenes Steak ist falsch gebraten. Und 0 Einsicht, Zurückhaltung hat nichts damit zu tun anderen Menschen den Respekt entgegen zu bringen, den sie verdienen und normal Hallo zu sagen. Egal auf welcher Sprache. Stern Abzug für diese Frechheit.
