Travellers look no further - Want to live your Anthony Bourdain fantasy? This is the place for you!
As an foreigner visiting Braga for work, my colleagues asked me what I would like for dinner. I told them to take me to where the locals go. Before I know it I’m whisked away in a cab to a quaint cottage on the edge of town which has tables set up round the back amongst a picturesque garden full of lime trees. I was given an option of a couple of mains: a fish, a meat or a chicken offering. I choose the meat and some of my colleagues went for the the fish.
Now fellow travellers, let me explain to you what unfolded next…. We were brought an array of starters including but not limited to: fish balls, stewed chicken gizzards, ham&melon, salad and finally blood sausage. All of these delicacy’s were exceptional, each one better than the previous.
After all of this the mains then arrived. A juicy tender steak with a beautiful stewed rice accompaniment. Everyone was so full from the starters but we powered through and the pay off was worth it. The fish my colleagues had was also tremendous.
Next to desert…we had RABANADAS…the best way to describe this is a French toast that has been kissed by the gods. The sugar sticks to your lips and takes you back to your childhood.
To top it all off, drinks are free flowing with some beautiful wine on offer.
All of this comes for a fixed price (€22) and the value that this offers must be seen to be believed. I’d happily pay double for this.
The service was exemplary & at the end of the meal we met the owner, who lives on site. She showed us around and encouraged us to taste and smell the fruit from her trees.
The whole experience was unforgettable and made me feel as if I was a travel documentarian sampling the best cuisine that Portugal has to offer. Let me tell you, you will not find...
Read moreThis place was the highlight of our trip to Braga! People are so friendly and food is amazing! We didn’t speak any Spanish but knowing just couple words and numbers we were able to communicate. The bacalao dish was the best I tried in Portugal! And then the chef gave us the French toast with port on the house. That toast was like eating a yummy cloud, the best I’ve ever tried. The owner took my dad and my husband around the garden on a tour. It was so nice to be treated like friends or family. Thank you so much guys! If we ever in your area again (or even somewhere close enough) we will definitely...

A fantastic, authentic Portuguese experience with the best food I have eaten in a long time. Great quality from start to finish and ate so much I honestly thought I would explode. Staff were very friendly and helpful, the owner was like a kindly mother and seemed to genuinely care about our experience. Will definitely repeat if given the chance. Most definitely recommend to anyone who wants to experience real Portuguese food.
Reserve a table at 16:00 the same day to ensure you get a place otherwise the locals book...
