Sabores do Oriente — Restaurant in Caldas da Rainha

I’ve been a regular visitor to the area for many years, but the ugly building this restaurant occupies has never appealed to me. But one I decided to step inside and take a look I was immediately impressed with the look of their food. Trying it a week later I wasn’t disappointed.

For €12.95 per person the buffet is amazing value and the food is freshly prepared and of excellent quality.

We started with the sushi, (2 rounds each), accompanied by a bottle of Sagres at a reasonable €1.80, and then moved on to the cooked while you wait wok-style meat and seafood. Razor clams, squid, vegetables, beef, pork and other ingredients served piping hot to your table. We just didn’t have capacity for the wide range of chinese and Portuguese dishes, and so went for dessert. Fruit, icecream, chocolate cake and jelly. Something for every one. Amazing value. Logo na entrada o chinês quer decidir onde o cliente vai sentar, escolhi outro lugar que não fosse da escolha dele o qual ficou trombudo o tempo todo.Pouca escolhas para o preço que é, comi o minimo e quando fui pagar a conta o tal chinês proprietário ou gerente( fiquei na dúvida) teve a audácia de dizer que eramos obrigados a consumir bebida, falei que não costumava comer com liquidos pq ficava cheia, e que ninguém me obrigaria e onde estaria escrito essa obrigatoriedade fora da lei, ele disse então: que o meu marido então consumisse e ele respondeu o mesmo. Ja tinha me arrependido de ter entrado porque as escolhas eram pouco com aspecto pobre, e ele todo arrogante ainda veio com essa. E pra fechar com chave de ouro, ficamos com barriga inchada e vómitos e esses povo que vem tirar o espaço do Português ainda quase expulsa um cliente. Nice place for buffet style restaurant as expected specially for friends and friendly and at a budget. Food had a quite a variety, taste is as usual. Service is good and friendly. In short as stated above good for big groups or family on a budget. Wortha visit...
