OMG the burgers! lf after all the delicious limpets and kebabs of the island, you are in the mood for an American style cheeseburger, this is your place. Outstanding! Also loved the steak sandwich on garlic bread. They do takeout, so you can pick up for a picnic or to take home. I thought that we had been living in a Hamburger desert. Very, very few places in Madeira have any idea at all as to how to make a good, simple Hamburger. Finally found Bar do Papagaio. What a gem!! A classic Madeira bar with excellent food and drinks. The owner is very friendly, the place always has some friendly locals enjoying a drink and happy to converse.
