We came at 18:23, hungry. Inside just 2 clients at one table and a family with 3 small children at another. It was raining outside and temperature dropped to around 8-9 Celsius. We waited several minutes for waiter to come. Finally he was passing by, so we asked for menu. He said he can bring the menu in 5-10 minutes because he is alone with the chef. That was strange. We insisted to get the menu, so he brought it few mins later. We ordered water, 2x Tuna Tataki for me and my wife, 1x Osso Bucco for my son and 1x Apple Crumble to share. Nothing too sophisticated. Waiter asked if Tataki should come as main (together with Osso Bucco), so we confirmed. Water came at 19:00, after we reminded the waiter that we still wait. Tuna Tataki was served at 19:51 (see picture). It took almost 1.5h to prepare it. Ridiculous! In addition it was cold and well done, while it should still be warm and pink inside. They brought 3 portions but we only ordered two. We had to decline getting the additional one. When we asked when the Osso Bucco will be served, the waiter seemed to be confused. He said it will be soon. Unfortunately we had to wait another 25 mins to get it - meaning almost 2 hours after we sat at the table. Door was open all the time (purposely blocked to not close accidentally). We were at second table from the door, so we're very cold. The cold wind was blowing straight on us. When after 30 mins we asked the door to be closed, waiter unlocked it and closed, but not precisely, so the wind opened it half way after a minute. Waiter ignored that situation. Several minutes later a couple that was sitting in a corner of a room asked waiter to close it because the partly opened door was now directing the wind their way. He closed it but again after a minute the wind opened it. Waiter ignored that again. Food was very tasty but overall experience was terrible. Chef is good but slow. Waiter has no clue how service in restaurant...
Read moreAs many on here have already mentioned; this place is a hidden gem. On our first day in Madeira we were looking for a quick and easy dinner option in close proximity and came across it by accident. We were immediately greeted by the whole team including the chef. We had two people next to us that had just finished their dinner and were talking with the waiter (bruno I believe he is called) about avocados and how he has his own garden with many selfgrown vegetables and fruits. Eventually Bruno gifted them three avocados as a departing gift (obviously without them even having asked for it, but just to demonstrate how nice everyone is). On our second visit the waiter was on holidays but told the team how bad he felt that he had not given us some avocados as well… shortly after hearing this story we had received our own bag with fresh avocados and a papaya!! The meals we tried in our two visits there were: Greek Salad Bruschetta Chicken Teriyaki Stir Fry Butter Chicken Curry Steak on the stone Tom Yum Prawns with rice Tuna Steak and roasted vegetables Crème Brûlée I can guarantee that these dishes will not disappoint you at all.
-They are all super-super friendly and extremely kind. -The food is superb! -They have a good variety on their menu with enough options to choose according to your diet. -The pricing is also very fair. You get great food for rather little money.
I could go on like this for much longer but I think I‘ve gotten the point across. If you have the chance to go there do so immediately!! You will...
Read moreThis place is PHENOMENAL. Please read to the very end. Im not sure why it is not Michelin star already and Im not overreacting. This was hands down the best place to eat in the whole island. When we tasted the starters, we immediately ordered even more starters just to try, because the first bite suggested it will be something special. And believe me it was. Tataki - master class. Greek style bruschettas - amazing. Even the garlic bread is made from some special butter and spices. For main course we had smoked pork and octopus. Best octopus I ever tried. And don't get me started on the deserts. You must try traditional madeira caramel pudding and chocolate mouse mocha style. Simply wonderful even though we were so full, there is always room for desert. The staff is very professional very polite and super friendly and smiling. We came a bit early before opening hours and the chef personally came out, sat us on the couch outside, brought water and some olives and legumes for a snack. We had a chance to chat a little with the chef-owner, so we knew that all the products are produced locally, and nothing is frozen, and it really shows. And the price is even too low for the experience you get, truly. After the meal, we could not resist and left at least 30% tip and shook the owner hand. Next time I'm here, I'm comming back no questions asked. Thank you for the...
