Taberna da Helena — Restaurant in Carrazeda de Ansiães

The site is fine, not far from the old historic centre of the town with a fabulous fountain and pillory and just 5 kms from the beautiful ruins of the castle of Ansiães. It looks, though, that Sundays - like yesterday - are not the best opportunities to enjoy the restaurant. The table we had reserved was well placed. It seemed the large room was at its full capacity showing it is very popular. The food was fine, but the service rather slow, taking about twenty minutes to have some bread and olives on our table to get started. Besides that, the staff - nice people - were not wearing masks while attending...

Wonderful ambiance, talented chef and exceptional staff. Um ótimo almoço de domingo. Aliás, fui informado que a Taberna da Helena só abre para almoço aos domingos. De terça à sexta, abre a tarde para lanches e a noite para o jantar.

No frio de uma tarde chuvosa, já a beirar o inverno, tanto a vitela assada, quanto o cozido a portuguesa, acompanhados pelo vinha da casa; um Douro em suas terras; ressaltaram ainda mais o clima de acolhimento da aconchegante casa, reforçado pelo bom e simpático atendimento.

Na mesa ao lado, foi servido um filé de boi, raça Barrosã, me explicou o amigo que nos apresentou a taberna. O prato, um filé alto, bem grelhado e suculento, pareceu-me apetitoso. Anotei para outra visita que, espero, será em breve. As sobremesas, tarte de maçãs e panacota, foram muito apreciadas, eu fiquei só no café.

Ao chegar, notei uma vitrina com frutos da região e não resisti a comprar duas maçãs verdes, graúdas, que juntas pesaram 900 gramas.
