In an residential Estoril area, this traditional restaurant offers a classic seafood menu with generous servings at fair prices, a good wine card at excellent value, an informal and happy service in a classic decor with indoor, covered and outdoor areas. We were 2 for an early dinner, so we met the lanche crowd snacking caracois, while we shared the couvert with a fresh goat cheese, for mains a good prego no prato, arroz de tamboril with a good red dão wine, for desserts a Molotov with coffee and water for a fair €30/pax. As always with these popular traditional restaurants it is recommended to book in advance to avoid the queues and order the bill with the coffee to avoid waiting.

Canhoto in English means left handed, and probably the name of the restaurant is due to the owner's godly left hand in cooking. Canhoto is one of the well established typical portuguese restaurants in the Cascais area. They are considered by many as having the best snails in town, specially because of their "to the point" slightly spicy sauce, that has God's left hand in it. This is a place where seafood lovers go regularly, and is very hard to get a table, so its imperative to make a reservation. Serves a wide range of fresh fish and superbly cooked meat. Ontem estive a jantar no restaurante e por um acaso fiquei com meu carro bloqueado devido um senhor de um carro ter ficado sem combustível além de ter me bloqueado bloqueou outros carros no estacionamento em frente e tinha parado em frente à uma saída de garagem enfim me prontifiquei a ajudar o senhor indicando a bomba de combustível mais próxima e ficando a olhar pelo veículo dele.

A senhora moradora da casa a qual parei em frente chamou a polícia municipal para me autuar com todo direito dela pois estava mal parado. A polícia municipal chegou e me aplicou a multa no momento em que os polícias estava a preencher a multa o Dono do Restaurante teve uma atitude digna de um Homem e se prontificou a pagar a multa vendo que eu não tinha a culpa da situação pois estava a ajudar e seria prejudicada mais eu não quis aceitar e insisti e pagar a multa pois por minha escolha parei em frente a garagem. Mais ele não aceitou a pagou.
