La Dolce Vita — Restaurant in Castanheira de Pera

Disgusted by attitude of management. I would strongly advise anyone considering dining here to think twice. This is a place that clearly doesn't care about its customers and is not worth your time or money. Table booked for 19.30, young children so needed early service. Starters not as advertised came out over an hour, then told that pictures are not representative of menu?!? Also when asked why we were not given plates for starters waiter told us we didn’t ask for any? Presumably we were supposed to eat off our table mats?!? Waited further 2 hours for mains, no apologies, actively avoided by staff, apparently gas ran out whilst cooking, surely they should have spares for when they run out?!? Such a shame was a lovely place when on the high street but clearly unable to deal with demand despite minimal covers. When I contacted the owner by phone to express my disappointment, he was dismissive and seemed more concerned with protecting their reputation than making amends. His attitude was insulting and showed a complete lack of respect for his customers. We currently own multiple properties in Castanheira de pera centre and 2 Airb&bs within 200m of restaurant and would not recommend to customers or family when they visit. We regularly eat within our village and actively encourage small business support, however I have never had my concerns and complaints so easily dismissed. The space is beautiful and has a nice atmosphere. You can bring dogs outside and they also have baby seats.

There is a big parking lot close enough to the Restaurant.

They accept reservations.

You can order everything through your mobile phone but the user interface might be slightly buggy.

Our experience: we were a group of 6 + a baby. We arrived at 19:30 and ordered around 19:50 through the app. The food took almost one hour and a half to come and people that arrived later were served first. We ordered 5 pizzas and 1 pasta. It took them 1 hour and a half, even after pointing to the staff what was happening. We got served at 21:30. Gladly the baby was calm but it could have been chaotic.

The bread tastes good but definitely not worth paying 3,80€ for a very small amount of bread with cheese/pesto/mozzarella. 👎

We haven't done a reservation but the restaurant was actually empty, a few tables were reserved and outside all tables were empty. We were 2 persons. The young guy said if we don't have a reservation, we won't get a table but we can have take away. We were waiting for more than half an hour for our take away pizza. All tables are still empty and we don't have the pizza. Even a table, which arrived after us got the food first...!! And surprise, 45 minutes later all tables are still free. Pizza is ok btw. eating it on the bus station. We could have been offered at least something to drink (on the house) while waiting. Or some discount...
