Casa Salé — Restaurant in Esposende

It is always a great sign when a restaurant is busy as full of locals. Casa Salé was very busy with both business people and regulars when we dropped in for lunch mid-week in February. The menu at 10€ for a soup starter, main couse (fish or pork) with a drink (water or soft drink) and coffee was a steal. Very good portions, great quality and taste with warm, helpful and efficient service in spite of staff not speaking the same language. We had the fish, one full fish each with fresh veg. The pork option looked as copious. The restaurant is not on a main street so you won't drop on it by accident and the outside does not let you see how popular it is so it is a surprise to walk in to the warmth and buzz. Restaurant alsi specialises in Texas mature beef steaks that looked great, not at same price as the fixed lunch...

It’s an horrible place, the owner do not have respect!

I went several times, I was trying to giving a second chance, I tried the cod and another day the octopus, both had too much oil, not well cooked and super expensive!

When you try to speak with the owner he is very inconvenient. The picture shows my part of payment.

When you try to tell anything to the owner or the wife Paula Branco they answer with aggressivity.

I don’t recommend this place at all! Esposende is an amazing city where you will find very good Portuguese...

Le Salé est une institution à Esposende. Vous y trouverez tous les plats typique du haut du Portugal. Tous sont à essayer et tous sont parfaitement exécutés. Rassurez vous,si vous n'avez pas eu le temps de tout tester....L'année d'après, vous retrouverez la même carte. C'est pourquoi je ne met pas 5 étoiles, pour le manque de renouvellement des plats. Ils ont rénové tout l'intérieur et agrandi la salle en rachètent le local à côté. Et là ! Messieurs dames ,c'est MMAAAAGGGNNIIIFFIIQUUEEEE!! Quand on a connu avant, une petite salle....mal décorées,les tables....les unes sur les autres l'éclairage....Pas top... Maintenant !! C'est SU-BLI-ME Éclairage au top,mobilier....Splendide. Agencement de la salle ! No comment ! Tout est parfait ! Comme le personnel en salle, qui n'hésite pas pour certains à tenter de te parler en français même si....mais on s'en fou,ça met la bonne ambiance ! Et la petite dame qui a fait découvrir un petit digeo à ma femme....et ma belle sœur !! bien sucré caramélisé.....Elles en sont devenu fan... À boire avec modération....naturellement ! Je ne vais pas en rajouter plus. Merci patron pour ce bel établissement. Merci la cuisine, tout est parfait et copieux. Merci la salle pour votre gentillesse. On se reverra à notre prochaine visite.
