Pizzaria Mónica — Restaurant in Esposende

Rip-off and a disappointment. We ordered one pizza, one dish of the day, one jug of vinho verde and 2 coffees. When the 30 euros bill came there was a total of 8.50 for water we never got but we were told it "came with the menu". The pizza was forgettable, tomato sauce was tasteless. The dish of the day, tripes, tasted fine but only had a few bits of tripe here and there, mostly it was beans in sauce. The house vinho verde wasn't good either, flat and bland (we didn't even finish it, believe me in our case that says it all!). It might have gotten 3 stars - no, actually, it would have likely gotten no review at all - if there hadn't been 8.50€ for water, and invisible water at that. A rare experience for us around here thankfully, we're usually pretty happy with where we eat in this region, if not very happy. NOT a recommended address and certainly not one we'll be saving for the future.

EDIT: Thank you for your response. Likely a new employee, not to see the error even after having it pointed out then. Like you with the tripes in the dish, I also make efforts not to waste food whenever possible, so yes I will still eat an average pizza to the last bit, but I wouldn't come back to...

Hoje, dia 9 de Setembro, fui almoçar com a minha família e pedimos duas pizzas e duas doses de polvo. Depois de algum tempo espera, chega a funcionaria com a refeição. Foi com muito espanto e perplexos que olhamos para as duas doses de polvo. Na ementa dizia que uma dose de polvo dava para duas pessoas, mas aquilo que vos posso afirmar é que se paga uma dose para duas pessoas mas na realidade só da para uma e que não coma muito. Mas antes o problema fosse esse!!!! Iniciamos a nossa refeição e ficamos logo de seguida desagradados com o polvo. Estava completamente duro e parecia pastilha elástica. Chamamos a funcionaria e reclamos o polvo que não estava em condições, estava furo e não se conseguia mastigar pois parecia uma pastilha elástica. A funcionária foi falar com o cozinheiro e depois veio ter connosco a informar que o polvo tinha de estar bom porque era polvo da costa e nada quizeram fazer para remediar a situação. Perplexos com a resposta ficamos sem comer e pefimos a conta. Em resumo, há empresários e funcionários que não querem saber do bem estar dos seus clientes e satisfação mas sim olhar apenas aos seus lucros, por tudo isso não recomendo de todo este restaurante a...

We go every year in the summer around 5 times a year. It gets better every time we go. The staff are amazing and are very happy to make a vegetarian pizza vegan (sadly no vegan cheese but they take away the cheese and are then very generous with other toppings). Great choice of food too and very authentic....
