Restaurante Rumar is a gem in Praia do Norte. Family run, friendly and always happy to help with questions, directions, whatever you may need. Delicious breakfast of Portuguese bread, toasted with ham and cheese and a latte ALWAYS hit the spot. We also enjoyed a fish burger for dinner one evening, again, absolutely delicious.

While a simple atmosphere, the large glass windows provide a gorgeous view of Praia do Norte toward the coast and you are in awe of the beauty. It is an obvious local favorite and the conversations and laughter of those who gather let you know you have found a gem.

There is also a market for basic needs, fresh veggies and fruit and other snacks.

Restaurante Rumar is absolutely worth the drive from Horta. This unassuming, family-run spot delivers exceptional service and some of the freshest, most flavorful food you’ll find on the island. Their house-baked sweet bread is a must-try for its excellent fresh, homemade flavor. The fish of the day—fried forked beard, lightly breaded with cornmeal—was cooked to perfection, and served with a mix of sweet and regular potatoes. The prices are more than reasonable given the quality and freshness of the ingredients. Between the excellent service, the outstanding food, and a great view of the ocean, Restaurante Rumar might just be the best restaurant in Horta....

Surprisingly nice place with great view, friendly staff and good, local food. It looks quite inconspicuous from the outside and we're very happy that we decided to go in anyway (the siesta was approaching!). The young waiter was speaking good English and brought us a book in which we could check what kinds of fish were being served that day. The ones we chose were fresh and very good - simple plates, nothing fancy, but very authentic, local and honest. The prices were very fair. The house wine was decent and nicely chilled.
