We came in during week time with no reservation and managed to get a table thanks to a very attentive waitress.

We ordered water, cheese plate, smoked tuna and platter of fish for two. The bill was around 50€ so fair price for what you get.

The cheese platter was versatile and served along homemade bread, salsa and butter. The service was attentive and explained each dish to us and assured that all the ingredients are locally sourced.

The fish arrived accompanied by two sides which were obviously not freshly prepared and lukewarm which was a bit of a letdown that was compensated by a delicious pineapple sauce which was great with the fish.

The fish was served in 3 versions - in black pepper sauce, breaded in almonds and sesame. There were 9 pieces looking like chicken strips which made it challenging to share and looked off, not restaurant - like. I would serve each type of fish as one whole piece instead of 3 which then could be cut into 2 instead of halving already chicken strip-sized pieces. The same with cheese - each kind was served in 3 small pieces instead of 2 when ordered by 2 ppl. The tuna wasn't expensive but the serving was 5 small, about 4cm slices, 2-3mm thick, I'd rather pay little more and get a starter-size serving. Overall the service was really good, the inside is nice and the food is OK with fair price. For me, not enough...

NOTE THEY DON’T TAKE CARDS. The German owner said it was because there is no mobile reception (they have wifi errr!); we had mobile reception and we offered to pay by bank transfer. We were on foot, he knew that, he made us walk 2km down the hill, in the rain, and back to get the cash. He said there was a notice on their door saying that they didn’t take cards (we missed it) they don’t warn you in any other way, we had rung that morning to reserve a table. In 2024 to insist on cash only (every other place on the island from the smallest take card payment). I can only think it is because he doesn’t want to declare his revenue for tax.

Note owners reply is incorrect the waitress said they could not give us a lift to the cash point because the owner was too busy and I am not a lawyer I am one of the other guests at the table - your inflexibility to our situation and to change your “cash only policy” is woeful and completely un comprehensible! There you go it’s your business…. My review is more a warning to others come with cash (a...

This restaurante really is worth at least one visit!

The interior is very nice, comfortable and even small children (from one of the other tables) could use a chest full of Lego to play with. Pretty nice!

Contact with owner Sylke Steiner was doubtlessly friendly and answers from her (Email) came Back almost immediately - wow!

The waitress, a young lady, was amazingly friendly, which really is something that always adds a lot to overall experiences in a restaurant!

We ordered the crepes with vegetables (each Had a different filling, which we appreciate very much, avoiding a saturated taste) and lentils with pumpkin patties - I am Not Sure if one can find something Like that elsewhere in the island(s); together with an unexpected "Starter of the House" (bread with dips) and some ice cream for dessert, we enjoyed our dinner a lot!

Highly...

Favorite food of the Azores! Seriously I was just thinking about this meal, we visited last June, and realized I never posted a review. You do have to call for a reservation, but I think we did the day of and it was no big deal. I got the crusted fish and it was delicious!! My boyfriend got the steak which came with pumpkin and potato cubed on the side, so good! Possibly my favorite part was the appetizer we ordered, the freshest veggies with melted goat cheese, I could eat that every day. And the meals came with little side salads with a ton of dressing. This was one of the first places we ate on our 17 day vacation, I didn't know how spoiled we were with all of the fresh veggies and dressings, which seemed hard to come by at other restaurants...anyway I clearly recommend!

Food was amazing! Our stay host Milene recommended this place for dinner and it did not disappoint! We had the bread platter and tomato pineapple soup as an appetizer and both very delicious. The tomato pineapple soup was especially good. My wife had the salad with chicken strips and I had the Flores beef steak with mushroom sauce which was absolutely amazing. Steak was cooked perfectly and melted in your mouth. The food was prepared with care and love, you could tell with each bite! Parking was easy, private lot right next to the restaurant. Make sure to make a reservation.

Top! We had dinner at Casa Do Rei and our experience was amazing. The bucolic location surrounded by nature and the nicely furnished interiors are the perfect frame from the food that is served in this restaurant. We ordered vegetarian options that were delicious and served with a nice touch. The staff was very kind and welcoming, the service was great and the price for the whole dinner was absolutely fair. I would suggest to make a reservation if you want to be sure to have your seat and I definitely recommend to give it a try if you are visiting Flores island.
