Café Moniz (Churrasqueira) — Restaurant in Leiria

I want to gatekeep this place so it stays local, but the food is so good I have to say something. This is a small local restaurant, not fancy at all. The only thing they serve is chicken! An order is a whole chicken that is hot and fresh off the wood fire grill and seasoned to perfection. Your chicken will come with a crisp fresh salad with a light vinaigrette dressing and sweet onions, bread, butter and cheese, and olives. Everything was absolutely fantastic! We ordered a picture of wine, it was also delicious. There were four of us. We had two orders of chicken, with the wine and everything else. The total came to €37! We couldn't believe it! The only drawback to this restaurant is the seating, they are little square stools and not very comfortable. But I would still come back here again even with the little...

I found this restaurant on the way back of the Pagadas da Dinaussaurios at Ourém. In here you can get only one option meal: barbecue chicken. And the nice smell of the charcoal grill will open immediatly your apetise 😊.

No issues to find parking in front of the restaurant if you arrive around 13h00.

The staf is really friendly and understand english speakers. There is an indoor or outdoor seating area however only looking to the mainroad.

Another big point is the cost. It's cheap if you order 1/2 chicken (it comes with rice and homemade chips) + free alcool beer + olives, total of 9,2 euros.

Amazing chicken grilled on lump charcoal. Family affair, the only thing on the menu is chicken! And for those used to the industrialized chicken in America, this natural chicken may come as a revelation (could not resist the pun as Fatima is near here)! Comes with great fries, rice with carrots and salad. Order a beer or a carafe of wine...
