Ikigai, Izakaya & Sushi — Restaurant in Leiria

We went to eat at Ikigai for the first time today and were very pleasantly surprised. The decor is minimalist and appropriate. Everything is extremely clean and attention is paid to detail - for example: the jugs for the soya sauce and the glasses are brought to the table chilled.

The service is excellent and very friendly. The owner, who cooks herself, also took the time to talk to us.

We had a bowl of ramen and a large selection of sushi - everything was excellent and of the highest quality. We were more than satisfied and as sushi fans we are happy to have finally found a restaurant that has the potential to become a regular.

Wow! This place is so romantic and cozy looking, great for families, couples, or even by yourself. My partner had been here before, and raved about it. I see what he’s talking about now. The staff is super friendly and will give you recommendations on the menu. We ordered the ramen and a type of sashimi which was absolutely wonderful. The ramen was ten out of ten, very flavorful, the meat was tender, and the egg was cooked to perfection. We would’ve ordered dessert if we had room to eat, but we didn’t. The portion sizes are so good. We will absolutely be back and I would definitely say this is one of the best ramen...

It's rated as one of the best sushi restaurants in Leiria, yet my personal experience with it wasn't as good as the reviews were promising for it to be. The food quality was on a good level. Yet it doesn't meet the right price/quality proportion. As for such price, you'd expect to get served something more unique. Both service and atmosphere are just alright. The service is on an average level, and the atmosphere could be better since all you find at the restaurant are just a few Japanese themed paintings and banners.
