Izzy's Beach Restaurant — Restaurant in Loulé

We were very happy with this beach restaurant having previously visited twice and being unlucky due to winds and heat. However, I have little to complain about with the food and the service. We very much enjoyed our courses and the service was very friendly and professional throughout, despite the slightly short gaps between courses. The only things which hold me back from 5 stars is the lack of choice on the menu; we found that even though there were many courses, they were sometimes similar or lacked imagination, which we would love to see more of to beat out competition of beach restaurants around the area. Disappointing evening dinner, no pictures taken (a sign that no-one in our party thought that highly of the food). Initial impression was OK, no starters so straight to main courses. "Fried monkfish" turned out to be deep fried, maybe OK if executed correctly, but the batter was soggy, the monkfish inside wet, slimey and tough - it was replaced, but not until an awkward silence had lapsed. Plates cleared without comment, and two desert menus slapped on the table without enquiry or request, it appeared clear we'd become unwelcome. Walked in on an unexpectedly busy Sunday night in October but still got seated at a lovely table for two overlooking the beach as the sun was going down. We both had the salmon fillet with new potatoes and sautéed vegetables with a nice bottle of Sauvignon blanc and lemon meringue and apple crumble to follow. I never bother to post reviews but I can honestly say it was one of the most delicious meals I’ve ever had and easily the best during our holiday. We even cancelled our reservation in Faro so we can go back again on our last night!
