THE WORST CASE OF FOOD POISONING EVER!! We went here last Saturday and I had the Julias caesar salad which consisted of prawns etc. My husband had the chicken wrap. We ate nowhere else that day and later in the afternoon and into the evening we both had the worst case of food poisoning. It is now 6 days later and we are still feeling the effects. This is not a one off as we were told by others that exactly the same had happened to them as well. So I am sure the owner will give another of his 'witty' replies to this review but he ought to spend more time overseeing the food hygiene in his restaurant as I can tell you I have never been so ill before with food poisoning and it could kill a weaker/elderly person. The hygiene in this place needs to be reported.
UPDATE: This is in response to your reply just now. Firstly who is Claire Cain? I did not speak to anyone at the time as we did not feel ill until hours later. It is clearly a ruse you are using to try and smear me for making a valid complaint. I have never complained about your restaurant before so what are you talking about? Why did you say you replied to me directly? I have not contacted you directly. So you're obviously trying to make out I am a moaner. Good diversion tactics but plain for all to see. Do not try and smear me and you can report me to who you like - hopefully it will be environmental health so I can give them the full details. Also you mention about noroviris in Quinta. We have not been to Quinta. We were staying by Vale Do Lobo golf course. What sort of person are you that you would rather come back with some nasty response over a very serious complaint in regards to your restaurant making us very ill? Just about says it all. Maybe you need to take that giant chip off your shoulder and realise that not everyone that writes a negative review are liars or just out to get you. Nasty man.
FURTHER UPDATE as the owner has now just edited his initial reply to now add that we have had email contact - no we haven't, please show me? He is also saying I told him we own a house in Qunta Da Lago - I wish and have never even been to Quinta before. He is clearly trying to muddy the waters and smear anybody that makes a truthful legitimate complaint and all he can do is twist and turn and make out that its everyone but him. Just one look at all his responses to peoples negative reviews paints a...
Read moreA last minute decision was made to go to Julia’s for late afternoon drinks and evening dinner. This is an incredibly popular place to go and booking ahead would be the sensible thing to do however, we chanced just turning up and thankfully they could fit us in. Given our trip to Julia’s was very early in the season it was still very busy so we were fortunate to be accommodated.
From first arriving the staff were excellent and very attentive. We managed to get ourselves a fantastic seat on the open air terrace overlooking the sea, sand and setting sun.
Julia’s has an extensive drinks and food menu with something for most people. After an hour of enjoying a superb bottle of fizz on the terrace we then went inside to dine.
Julia’s has two pretty large dining areas so can accommodate a lot of people so thankfully, they also have plenty of excellent staff to hand.
The food we had was very good and thoroughly enjoyed our time here. One thing that stood out to me was portion size. I can’t recall the last time I left food on my plate but the quantity served actually beat me and had to concede and sadly leave some of my fantastic chicken curry.
Most areas of Julia’s enables its diners to watch the sun setting over the sea where spectacular orange skies provide a fantastic backdrop to your experience.
Julia’s is based immediately on the beach front therefore, pre or post dinner, if you fancy a walk on the sand or a dip in the sea then you will find it doesn’t get much easier than this.
Access down to Julia’s by car is straightforward with ample car parking if required but also, if you are close enough to walk then the roads are safe and there is also a great beach front boardwalk to use.
All round, a very good experience and one you should not be disappointed...
Read moreCaught STOMACH BUG after having dinner here!
We had an early dinner on 23rd October in this restaurant, that was our last dinner in Portugal. I ordered a sea bass, my husband ordered a fish stew. My husband felt slightly unwell that evening, and I developed symptoms of stomach bug the next day. I have never felt so bad in my life. Had to take a sick leave at work, all the plans for the weekend are ruined, and I am not sure when I will feel better as it is the 3rd day today but still feeling very unwell. I am also constantly worrying about passing this thing to my young children. AVOID! PLEASE READ THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS AND PATHETIC REPLIES TO THEM FROM THE OWNER OF THE RESTAURANT FIRST BEFORE DECIDING TO EAT THERE! I saw a review from a lady who also caught a stomach bug a few months ago. I wish I had read it before eating there.
Update: why would you wish to contact my employer? You’d rather focus on hygiene practices at the restaurant, because you will get a health safety control visit very soon!
I was not able to write a review 2 days ago because I was so unwell I was not able to use my phone.
If you can’t find me on SM, it does not mean I do not exist. I also reviewed another company a few years ago, and this review can be seen under my name. So yes, I am a real person who has a meal at this restaurant. And yes, there was no reservation under my name became we just dropped in. The restaurant was half empty if...
