Ok, let’s be honest here. There a definitely levels of dining. When you spend more you expect more. So Quinta da Telheira is a fine dining experience. The view is spectacular looking over the Douro but for some reason, you can’t dine outside to enjoy it fully - even though outside was cooler than inside in the middle summer (bar food only outside) Which brings me to the AC - each room has a split system, and unfortunately they can’t keep up with the August heat. In the bar, the AC constantly drips and the floor is all wet. And in the “west” / smaller room - you cannot open the blinds fully because - I was told - they might break. The food was good, no question, but no to the levels I expected in this kind of place. The steak (Nacos) was tasty, but the quality of the meat was not - it was a bit tough. The octopus (polvo) was nicely grilled but not too tasty. The monk fish rice (tamboril) was tasty but it had maybe 4 pieces of fish. And the risotto was ok. On the other hand, the staff was friendly and attentive and the place is nicely setup and decorated. And did I mention the view? If you go to have a beer or some drinks outside I think the place is perfect (try to catch the sunset); but to dine… it wants to be perfect, but misses the mark. I wish them well and want to come back, but o also hope...

Lovely place to have dinner in the Douro region! The food was good (especially mushroom risotto); however, shrimp rice was very spicy and we weren’t warned about this, and the veal steak had some parts which were hard to chew. I also found service a bit poor, with most of the staff either not speaking English or speaking it hardly, and when we asked the waiter to make the air conditioner cooler or open the window, we were said it’s impossible. The overall atmosphere is nevertheless amazing, with spectacular views on...

This is such a hidden gem in this area. We had my daughter’s baptism lunch here last week and it was a five star experience. Elsa, the owner, is so personable and kind. Her & her staff did a wonderful job and kept our table happy with lots of delicious food. The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful with no detail forgotten. But the view is the most spectacular part of this location. Just the view alone is worth the visit to this beautiful restaurant! Thank you Elsa for everything,...

Beautiful place owned by welcoming couple! Food is a mix of traditional and modern Portuguese I spent my birthday here and me and my friends enjoyed everything! We ordered 3 starters, including grilled peppers and prawns in absolutely mind blowing sauce 🥰 Also for main dish we had veal steak and some kind of soup with fish, prawns and rice in a pot As a dessert there was a super tasty home made chocolate mousse 🥰 The service was great and all dishes were served fast fast
