Churrasqueira Sever, aka “FILIPE-E”, is one of the best restaurants in Portagem. We went there twice, a group of four. The owner of the restaurant received us in a very amicable way, especially the first time we went there. Given that the place was far less crowded the first time, we were superbly tended to in all aspects; hospitality wise, quality of the food (which was spectacular), and service, which was also impeccable. On the first time, we ordered the “misto de carnes de vaca”, which is a mix of several cuts of cow meat, as well as a pan of porcini rice. Both dishes were scrumptious and the quality of the produce used was definitely of fine quality. The porcini mushrooms are picked locally and were fresh. These two dishes were sided with potato chips, cooked cabbage and a salad. The portions were more than enough for the four of us. On the second occasion, we were sufficiently well served, however, the quality of the service was comprised because the place was very crowded. The cow beef mix wasn’t as good, but on a positive note, they did manage to bring us a delicious bean and (locally picked) mushroom stew, which was exquisite. The codfish was also very well cooked, therefore maintaining the quality of the rating. The bathroom is clean, modern and has a diaper station. The parking is insufficient in proportion to the affluence of people. The accessibility is made solely through a flight of stairs, therefore not the best for physically conditioned individuals or for baby strollers and the sorts. I advise one to book a table beforehand, because the place tends to get crowded on national holidays and festive occasions.
Nevertheless, this is overall a very...
Read moreWe came to this place as I could not eat more meat during my holiday to Alentejo. Meat appears to be the most common dish understandably but after days of it I desperately needed some vegetables/vegetarian dishes. The menu was hopeful as it had several vegetarian dishes. Sadly the place was expensive and the price was not matched by the quality of what was served. We were served a starter of a rather tiny dish with scrambled eggs and mushrooms. They charged 15 euros for it (!) and it was very poorly cooked. Mushrooms were watery and tasteless. This was followed by rice with mushrooms. It was not the risotto type as the rice dish was quite wet. Almost a soup. Again mushrooms didn't taste great and they used too much vegetable stock which spoiled the taste of the dish. For the 22 euros we were charged for this dish (!) any decently cooked homemade dish of rice and mushrooms would taste far better and for a fraction of the price. Sadly a poor restaurant and quite expensive for the very basic and tasteless dishes we had. I should have taken pictures of the dishes but these would have not helped to understand how poorly the dishes tasted. They may serve better meat dishes perhaps, but anyone after tasty vegetarian dishes should...
Read moreThe food was good, not great but good enough to be honest. But be aware we noticed they were filling a bottle of wine with other rests of wine.. we saw that and requested them to open the bottle in front of us, they said that to do that we needed to pick another kind on wine since they didn't had the one we requested and the one that was served to us.. It was for us the confirmation. We ended up not paying the first bottle since we refused to do so, but for sure the last time...
