A Tasquinha — Restaurant in Mogadouro

Going through Mogadouro at lunchtime we stopped at A Tasquinha randomly for lunch. We were warmly greeted by Marco who spoke fluent English which was great as our Portuguese skills are terrible. We felt welcomed immediately. The place was busy and the food arrived promptly. The food was excellent. We had chargrilled lamb and creamy rice with mushrooms and hazelnuts. Both meals were delicious and complemented each other well. It was no surprise it was popular given the great food and excellent service. We stopped for a night in Mogadouro as part of a week's driving around the region. With rumbling bellies we wandered into town for an early dinner but found very little open – we were just about to head to the petrol station for emergency snacks when we stumbled into A Tasquinhas. Really glad we did. Very warm welcome and great food. We ordered a meat plate for two, which is absolutely what it sounds like – a big plate of various meats, with sides. I stopped by Tasquinha for dinner during a roadtrip, and the experience was memorable for the food taste and the hospitality of the staff. The chef insisted she was just a “cook”, and her smile and cooking skills conquered us! We tried the mushroom rice, cordeiro, alheira and escabeche de javali.
