Restaurante Vila Velha — Restaurant in Mourão

We went to this place because we saw goof reviews, but the experience was disappointingly surreal. Problems everywhere you look.

They had only butter with herbs (which is a no-no for kids), no ordinary one. No soda without sugar (so health/weight-conscious had to choose normal water instead of fizzy enjoyment). The list of main foods was short (which is not a problem by itself), but 1/3 of options were unavalable. The potatoes they provide with food are potato chips (as in Pringles) and the server was adamant that this is the only option. That is until we went behind the server and normal stick potatoes came fine. The server was slow, lazy and constantly forgetting stuff and had to reminded several times. Despite bad memory he didn't even have a simple pen and a paper to write the order for the 6 of us.

And at the end of the day, when food arrived every single item was either CLEARLY and significantly under or oversalted. Incredible ability to miss all of the shots by shooting in entirely another direction. I thought I was part of the...

We were going back to Spain and found this small village and this restaurant. We couldnt ask for more, the place was familiar but cozy, the food fresh and delicious, made from regional specialties, the desser (baba de camelo) was wonderful and the price was fair for the food we were served. Fomos à praia de Mourão e resolvemos procurar por um restaurante para almoçar por ali. Escolhemos o Vila Velha. O que dizer… no que toca à comida em si, que é o que mais interessa, nada a apontar. Tudo muito bom, muito honesto, parece comidinha de casa, fricassé de gambas e bochechas muito boas, boas sobremesas, paozinho bom com azeitonas e queijinho bom de entrada, tudo impecável mesmo. E não é caro. 53€ dois adultos e uma criança que comeu a comida dos pais. Achei tudo muito bom. Único reparo: serviço. O cliente não precisa ser bajulado mas chegar e dizermos boa tarde e a única resposta ser um olhar parece-me estranho quando chegamos a um restaurante. Fui eu que perguntei se podíamos almoçar, quando duas pessoas estavam encostadas a um balcão a ver qualquer coisa (se calhar era importante). Depois, a menina que atendeu era simpática mas recomendo que se dê formação a quem serve porque parecia um pouco perdida. Quando um cliente está à espera que venham promover as sobremesas, não se levantam mesas todas enquanto esperamos (muito tempo). Atenção: não belisca a qualidade da comida.
