This is a Mecca of a place if you want to soak up truly authentic Azorean food and culture. It’s one of those places that if you blinked you’d miss it - don’t!! A warm welcome awaits and hearty plates. We went with the cheese bread and olive with chilli jam ( with an extra round of cheese as it was so yummy. Then onto the very generous steak and egg which was utterly sublime and cooked to perfection. Hmmm, maybe we didn't know the items before ordering but I ordered a Cod fish(bacalhau) which was very very chewy and strange and came with boiled potatoes in a very very vinegarish sauce, the smell was crazyyyy strong, i could even feel vinegar after we left the place, i couldn't eat much of it, had 2 bites and gave it away. My girlfriend had a sword fish, very blend, both the fish and potatoes. Atleast the cola was nice. We came across this small restaurant with typical local dishes as a recommendation in a German travel guide. Since it's only open for lunch, we included it on our tour around the eastern end of the island. We tried it and were very satisfied.
