Absolutely delicious dinner. The starter - lentil flour cone with romaine cumim, with three kinds of sauces, was surprisingly delicious. We tried the onion bhaji - a simple dish - fried onions with spices. So far the best I've tried anywhere. The lentil soup soup was okay, but I wouldn't have needed it as it was something very similar under the Nepali plate. And I'll definitely recommend that one. My wife just kept saying oh my god over and over 😀 Too bad I don't have two stomachs. I would have sat there for another hour. And the waiter was absolutely fantastic and nice. I rarely come across one of those, even in a fancy place

Where do we start? We ate here five times in one week. We came to a restaurant to eat and ended up leaving it with an extended Nepalese family. We absolutely loved this restaurant. Traditional food, ran by a fantastic Nepalese family who treats you like you're part of the family as well. We miss you guys, thank you so much for everything and we will keep in touch. Oh yeah, the food. :) The food doesn't need a review, that was 6 stars for us!!! Marco and Laura

A treat finding such a good restaurant in a town of limited choices. Huge selection of Indian and Nepali — no problem finding something to please vegans and non-vegans. We especially liked the vegetable pakora (using shredded potato more than potato flower) and vegetable mono (steamed dumplings filled with shredded vegetables). Nepali beer too. Very good value. Very friendly service in fluent English.

If you’re looking for a truly authentic culinary experience that feels like a taste of home, Mar Azul is an absolute gem. This Nepali restaurant masterfully blends the comforting flavors of Central and South Asia, offering dishes that resonate deeply with anyone familiar with the rich, hearty cuisine of the region.

From the moment you step inside, you’re welcomed like family. The hosts go out of their way to ensure every guest feels at home, creating an atmosphere that’s warm, genuine, and refreshingly unpretentious. Whether you’re enjoying classic momos, fragrant curries, or perfectly spiced dal, every dish is prepared with care, reminding you of home-cooked meals shared with loved ones.

If you crave authentic flavors and a dining experience filled with kindness and hospitality, Mar Azul is the place to be. Highly recommended for anyone missing the familiar tastes and heartfelt...

Unforgettable kindness, meal and experience!! My husband and I are walking the Rota Vicentina and our hotel (Natura Maris) recommended this unique restaurant and we had been craving Indian so we gave it a try and OMG it was INCREDIBLE. We shared the Lamb korma and the traditional Nepalese sampling plate (recommend b our waiter) + mushroom soup + ginger tea (amazing!) + the carrot dessert + the mango sorbet... and WOW. Our waiter/ the owner was so kind, he even brought us a plate of fresh blueberries grown locally to try. An absolute must eat type of place. We both already want to return! Oh! AND we got 2 samosas to go for lunch on the trail! The veggie was our favorite. Incredible flavors and all well priced. Muito...
