I recently had the pleasure of dining at a remarkable seafood restaurant PORTOdasBARCAS that left an indelible mark on my palate and created an unforgettable dining experience. With its delectable seafood dishes, outstanding wine selection, and tantalizing desserts, this restaurant surpassed all my expectations.
First and foremost, let's talk about the food. Each dish I sampled was a masterpiece in its own right. From succulent grilled fish to perfectly seared scallops, the flavors were exquisite and left me yearning for more. The freshness of the seafood was evident in every bite, and the skillful preparation and presentation showcased the chef's expertise. It was clear that only the finest ingredients were used, resulting in a symphony of flavors that delighted my taste buds.
To complement the culinary delights, the wine selection was truly exceptional. The restaurant's sommelier carefully curated a list of wines that perfectly paired with the seafood offerings. From crisp and light whites to bold and robust reds, there was a wine to suit every palate. The knowledgeable staff was more than willing to provide recommendations and guide guests in making the ideal wine choices, enhancing the overall dining experience.
No meal is complete without a sweet ending, and the dessert selection at this restaurant did not disappoint. Indulging in heavenly creations like rich chocolate mousse, delicate fruit tarts, and creamy panna cotta was the perfect finale to a remarkable meal. Each dessert was a work of art, both visually stunning and a true delight for the senses.
Beyond the culinary delights, the atmosphere of the restaurant was simply enchanting. With its breathtaking view of the ocean, dining here was a feast for the eyes as well. The tranquil ambiance and the sound of crashing waves created a serene backdrop, making it an ideal place for a romantic dinner or a special celebration. The attentive and friendly staff further enhanced the overall experience, ensuring that every guest felt welcome and well taken care of.
In conclusion, my experience at this seafood restaurant was nothing short of exceptional. The outstanding dishes, extensive wine selection, delectable desserts, and awe-inspiring ocean view combined to create an unforgettable culinary journey. Read moreThe prices are too high and the food is just ok. Great service and a nice setting don’t make up for that. I won’t mind coming here again, but chances are that I won’t.
The location is quite pleasant - right at the end of the hiking trail, on top of a cliff, with the ocean in front. The view would be nice if you could see it, which unfortunately you mostly can’t. The decor is casual-chique - trying hard to look like it isn’t - with hints of the sea.
Service is impeccable. The waiters are friendly, responsive, polity and multi-lingual. You will feel welcomed.
The issue is the food. The prices are relatively high and the quality just isn’t there. I had excellent “berbigão” (small clams) to start, juicy and big, but there was some sand in them. The octopus “pataniscas” were good and freshly fried, as were the shrimp “rissois”, but both lacked substance. The octopus rice was too salty. The cheesecake too sweet.
Overall, it was a good meal. Nothing special.

Read moreWe came to the restaurant in hope to have a nice dinner at sunset. Fortunately, they had only a reservation for 20 or for 21:30. We picked the latest time spot and completed tremendous hiking along the Atlantic coast at sunset. Otherwise we wouldn’t see anything from the terrace as it looks directly at the parking lot. The next disappointment was the food. We skipped extra expensive tapas and decided to go with lemon rice with sea bass and clams. We were served with a pot of rice soup with a bit of fish and maybe 8 clams. That for 40 €!! The day before we ate a huge cataplana with plenty of fish and clams in the city center of Faro exactly for the same price. You will not get sate without eating the whole rice which is astonishing for the price. Generally, the place is too expensive and unjust expensive for its offer for Vila Nova de Milfontes. Spend rather time on the cliffs at the sunset and go eat...
