O Mirante — Restaurant in Oliveira de Frades

We were on holiday out of season. This place was a godsend as it was always open unlike a lot of places. Everytime we visited we were waited on by a lovely girl. She was so helpful and accommodating to our party’s very lively toddler. Spoke impeccable English to make up for our abysmal lack of Portuguese. The pizzas are great with many different toppings and the chips are yum!! The house wine cheap and pleasant. We tried a couple of local dishes too which were great. We had a great meal here, with a lovely view of the mountains. The pizza was very good — flavorful and nicely cooked. The vitela assado (roast veal) was tasty, though a bit drier than I had hoped. Still, the flavor made up for it. The homemade chocolate mousse was a standout — rich and absolutely delicious.
