It is disappointing to see how much Manjar do Marquês has changed since my last visit 15 years ago. What was once a highly regarded establishment now falls far short of expectations. After waiting 20 minutes outside just to get in, the experience was underwhelming from the start. There is no menu provided, leaving you with limited options that feel uninviting. The food quality was the biggest letdown. The filetes de pescada were overly oily, making them unpleasant to eat, while the bacalhau was dry and completely lacked flavor. The much-talked-about tomato rice, which seems to have a following, was decent but far from exceptional. Starters like the pastel de bacalhau and croquetes were large, but their flavor was overpowering and not enjoyable.

Overall, what was once a memorable dining destination is now a place that I cannot recommend. For anyone planning to visit, it might be worth reconsidering unless significant...

Such curious place, and for many, a mandatory detour.

The building is divided into two areas, a restaurant and a snack bar. This review is focused on the snack bar, which made this place famous. Head to your left, please.

It's a large room and is usually packed any time of the day, as they serve non stop all day long. Has a rustic atmosphere, a bit noisy and bustling, as expected from a room with such capacity.

Their specialty is tomato rice, and then you have to decide which “side dishes” to go with it. you can choose fried codfish, breaded hake fillets, breaded stake, cod cakes, samosas, “migas”, and black-eyed beans. And everything tastes really good.

The service is fast and competent, although not very attentive because the waiters are always hands full with so many customers to attend.

If you're traveling between Lisbon and Porto and happen to feel hungry halfway through, this is...

In my last reviews from this restaurant I always gave 5 stars and loved everything here. Still the food is wonderful. Ok I dud not like the Croquete! But Pastep de bacalhau is great, soup is wonderful, and tomato rice is very good . The atmosphere is the same! Nice, traditional, and warm. But I did not behaviour of one of employees . A big queue out of door, in 41 degree heat! Kids, old people are waiting and bo body was coming customer.they totally ignored the queue. And we checked inside a lot of tables were available. When we remind them.qbout the queue. The answer was : " we are little numbers and can not give fast service " we said but its 41 degrees outside. They answered " we did not make the temperature 41 degrees!" Wrong answer for both issue!!! So I reduce...

O Manjar do Marquês, the feast of marquis. A very popular place with families, couples, and all sorts. So popular that people wait in queues inside and outside the building, we had to wait about 15 minutes. They do not take advance bookings. The menu is mostly fried food, which is all delicious and good sizes. The menu is small, with 3 fish items, 4 meat items, and accompaniments including the popular tomato rice. The Manjar do Marquês dessert is a real treat. Good eficiente service. Has about 50 tables inside, and bar seating for about 40 people. There are a few tables outside next to the large car park. Has WiFi, pwd manjarpombal.

O Manjar do Marquês is a fantastic spot to enjoy traditional Portuguese food, and their famous tomato rice truly lives up to the hype. The rice is perfectly cooked, rich in flavor, and pairs exceptionally well with a variety of meats. The dish has a comforting, homemade feel while still being elevated with the right balance of seasoning and texture. The restaurant itself has a welcoming atmosphere, efficient service, and a steady flow of customers, which speaks to its popularity. If you’re looking for an authentic and satisfying meal, this place is definitely worth the visit.
