Restaurante Sazonal — Restaurant in Pombal

Pleasantly surprised. From the outside it looks like an ordinary restaurant with a simple menu. However, the dishes tasted amazing. The host was super friendly as well. We got some bread with a homemade cheese spread and olive butter for starters. I usually go for meat but was not very hungry, so went with the couscous with potatoes and various vegetables and it did not disappoint. It had so many different and awesome tastes.

The deserts are all fresh and homemade. I had the lemon tart and my brother the brownies (made from quality Belgian chocolate) with popcorn ice-cream, both tasted really great. I am rarely impressed with restaurants in Portugal and didn't have high hopes for this place which we mainly chose because of its location not far from the main motorway between Lisbon and Porto.

However, I was pleasantly surprised and impressed by Sazonal. The menu was a more interesting than you normally find here and the food was cooked very well and tasted great with good seasoning. Clearly someone knows what they are doing.

The decor was a little outdated and clinical but everything else was fab especially the service which was very warm. The price was extremely reasonable and we will make this our go to stop off when travelling home to Porto - bonus points because you can...
