We stopped by this restaurant with my boyfriend and his son for a quick snack. We ordered a beer, a plate of cheese, garlic bread and some chicken wings. The garlic bread was so dry that it looked like the bread was very old before being toasted. But that was not the main problem. We ordered the chicken wings with a supposedly sweet and sour topping. When it arrived it has such a strong taste of vinegar that it was very hard to eat. Nothing sweet about this. We called the waiter who explained us it was a homemade sauce made with lime and ketchup. Fine. We suggested that maybe the proportions were not right. So the waiter took the plate back and it was returned exactly in the same state. So we thought it was a local recipe. We asked for extra jam from the cheese plate to be able to eat that mixture and to recreate the sweet and sour sauce. In the end, only the son of my boyfriend didn't eat those wings because we did not dare to give him, as it was tasting dangerously wrong. At least, the waiter offered us the beer in the bill, which is a nice gesture but not enough for the night we both spent in the toilets, food poisoned. (not the son of my boyfriend, who didn't eat those wings). Maybe if both clients says it's very strange many times, take the time to taste the sauce and it's very unlikely that you would say...

This restaurant can be easily seen (on the coastal side of the road) from the 'northern axis' EN1-1A road that goes along the northern coast. We stopped here after driving to Sete Cidades in the morning. It is modern with full-length glass windows over two storeys - the upper floor does not seem to have the air-conditioning on but has better views and a balcony (when we visited in late October). There is free parking outside for about 6 cars as well as parking spaces on the road. It seems to be filled with a mix of tourists driving by and locals. The starters were the highlight and we had grilled limpets (looked great on the serving tray) and blood sausage with pineapple (an interesting combination and the sausage is juicier than black pudding) - both seem to be famous and deservedly so. We shared one main of seafood with rice which was more like a stew - not very tasty but a huge portion. With soft drinks, it came to about 45 euros for 2 people. The staff were friendly and they have a...

The food was good. Great limpets, beautiful view. But I am disappointed at the service. The service is very unhelpful and cold. I can never understand the stubbornness of the waiters of this sort. Having made a reservation, we arrived and saw 3 tables at the window, saying "reserved". We asked to occupy any of these ones. "No, they are reserved". :D okay... Maybe someone specifically asked for a window table. But there was one table for 2 that was not reserved (we were 2 adults and a child). Can we have this one? "Não, não vai dar jeito..." For who? It's not going to be comfortable? But for who? 🙃 Cuz we'll be fine. We want it. We stayed where we were seated, and the 3 tables near the window remained unoccupied until the end of our meal. 😅😅 And we really really wanted to seat near the window... Wow... This sort of stubbornness and unwillingness to help a person to have a beautiful experience at your restaurant is ridiculous, in my...

We saved this for our last night out on the island and weren't disappointed. The views are really nice, and the food didn't disappoint. Everything was really good, but there were two things worth an additional mention. First, the octopus salad was delicious, and it is absolutely huge. I ate most of ours by myself -- with a little help from my wife -- but it's easily enough for four people. Second, the wine was the best we had on the trip; I wish we had tried this much earlier, and we would have had it often. Finally, we enjoyed visiting with the server from Canada after our meal -- didn't catch her name. It was fun to share notes and get perspective from someone who moved to the islands.
