BAR TIMASSA — Restaurant in Ponta Delgada

From the outside appearance of the restaurant I didn't expect much but - oh boy! That fish! We stayed in Sao Miguel for two weeks and this was by far the best fish I ate on the whole island. Fresh and perfectly cooked local fish. And for a good price. We were also in some fancier restaurants but the fish wasn't as good and pure as it was at 3 Arcos.

The owner was also super nice and showed us a book with the fish that can be found in the sea around the Azores.

We were visiting the geothermal Pools of Ferraria but those were not my highlight of the day. My highlight of the day was that fish with a perfect crust and the homemade creamy Mousse au Chocolat as desert.

If you simply want to try (absolutely) tasty local fish then this is the place for you. You better not miss out on that culinary experience! There's also other meals than fish - like currently authentic german Bratwurst - that must be great as well.

We ventured to 3 Arcos after our Airbnb host recommended it out of the establishments in Ginetes - we ended up going back each of the remaining 3 nights. It's a small and cosy bar that you could easily miss, or have your head turned away from by the shinier pizzeria down the road, but the food is both great and cheap and the beer is more than reasonable. We tried the dish of the day (€7.50 for soup and a main course!), the fresh fish of the day and the steak and were never disappointed. Nuno is a nice guy and a great host. It is a nice tipical and small restaurant in Ginetes, in the centre near by bus station. On other side of the restaurant there is a public toilet. They have tee, cafee, drinks and food. Also they have menu of the day. The prices are OK. I took hamburger with potatoes and egg, there is a picture attached, and a small beer, all of this costs 5.70 euros.
