Green Love Restaurant — Restaurant in Ponta Delgada

Wow, this is an absolute tourist trap. Reading other reviews, you might have a better experience if you buy their appetizer, which they just placed in front of us telling us that it's 4,50€ and if we don't want it, they can return it to the kitchen. Great sales strategy... 🤨

The burger I had was mediocre at best, at least after I put some ketchup and mayo in it as it had no spices or sauce whatsoever and that was the only thing available to me at that moment. This very burger was the highlight of our stay there...

The fries had no salt but where at least fried, which was not the case with the guests sitting at the table next to us. They were given floppy potatoe sticks that were fried just long enough to soak up some oil and get all wiggley. Worse than the food was the service. One guy had a tablet and was able to take orders and handle payments, the rest seemed friendly but unable to do anything but clean tables and call for (shout at) him. Our tablet waiter had no visible plan and headlessly ran from one table to another. What he was good at is ignoring you even if it was obvious that he heard and noticed you. After asking to pay for three times, I finally was allowed to hand him some money with which he disappeared, not to give me my change, but to wait on some other tables. I had to remind him, that he still owes me change after which he disappeared again for a few minutes. Worst place I've been to in a very long time....

This restaurant is situated in a nice spot by the blue lake of Sete Cidades, and that’s the one good thing I can say about it. The service was so slow it was mind-boggling because there weren’t that many people. We got menus after a while, but no one came to take our orders for over half an hour. Several waitresses walked by and knew we had not been served yet and kept saying “one minute”. We went inside to the bar to see if we can place our order ourselves but were told we must go back to our table and place our order with a waitress even though no waitress was taking orders.

One couple who came much later was served before us, and one couple that came earlier did not get served at all (they eventually gave up and left).

A bunch of tables were having the same problem we were.

When our order was finally taken, it was rushed. The service was polite enough but not friendly.

We hoped that at least the food would be good. However, when the food came, the burger was cold and the fries were quite undercooked. It was really disappointing and completely not worth the money. It’s really not hard to get a burger right, but they managed to get it wrong.

To top it off, the bathrooms were dirty and very unpleasant.

Our recommendation is to avoid this place. Hopefully they’ll get their act together sometime, but there’s not much in way of competition in the town of...

Fantastic views ruined by a lack of interest in good service.

We first went to sit at the lounge chairs, which are self service. No problem there, until we tried ordering sandwiches, which are not available when not sitting at a table with service. I'd understand if large meals are not available there, but a normal sandwich and/or toast is strange.

We then got a free table at which we could order food. We got hold of a waiter, but instead of ordering, we were told we couldn't get any food. Ultimately, what was meant was that we couldn't order with him, because he didn't have a tablet. Instead of telling us normally, the guy was just a brute.

After we ordered with another guy, we waited for the food. A toast and a sandwich took almost an hour, the food was okayish, but nothing special.

Overall, the experience was extremely subpar because of the service, except for one waiter who was really nice. Shootout to that guy, because at least he tried making it a nice experience,...
